IMO, as a non-U.S. resident who no longer uses Tracktion, but very nearly bought T1 in order to take advantage of the T2 online upgrade:
1) On the subject of the plugins, apparently promised quite a while back.
Not allowing 'upgraders' the new mackie plugins appears a tad unfair & divisive.
Not too bad for U.S. residents with the rebate for the boxed version (although still seems unfair to those who used T1 from the start & upgraded online).
Not very clever for non-U.S. residents who get no rebate, & thus must essentially buy tracktion twice (T1+online upgrade & then T2 boxed) in order to qualify for the new plugins.
For U.S. residents - how long does the rebate offer T1 to T2 last anyway? Is/was there a time limit? Just curious.
2) On the subject of T£, sorry T3

No upgrade from the online T2 for original T1 users/purchasers?
Any rebate I wonder? & if so will that also be limited to just U.S. residents?
Seems a bit of a mess really.
Thus loyalty seems to be rewarded.
This may be all premature, maybe that beno bloke will be able to clarify post-namm.
The mackie website is pretty explicit about the terms for the new plugins though:

They are included FREE for registered owners of the boxed Tracktion 2 product which is available exclusively through authorized Mackie software retailers.

Repeated numerous times, just in case loyal T1 owners who upgraded online dont get the message the first time.
Flame on

Explain how fair it really all is really, how people should support mackie/tracktion by using their hard earned cash to buy a second licence for the boxed version (even though non-U.S. residents must pay through the nose with no rebate).
Looks like a case of 'show me the money' to me - but what do I know? I know that i'm bloody glad I didn't buy T1 & upgrade online I can tell you

im glad i have more than one host. with all of the people crying aorund here, im a little scared to even finish the download...

i have a weeks worth of f**king rythym bed tracking (the band im working for at the moment has spent a little close to $2000 on tracking time), and i don't really know what to do at this point. im going to try to load this stuff up in tracktion. i should have kept my older version 2. but like an idiot, i thought it was going to be a painless upgrade. this is the level of trust i put into this software up to this point. so ill go install this and see what happens.

if i lose ANY information or if i have to spend any hours grabbing files from folders and importing them into cubase, im gonna get pissed. this makes me nervous.

i don't like to be nervous on my days off.

ill go install right now. the file actually completed while i was writing this.. so let's see..

better be good!!! not kiddin...

Has any mackie statement been made regarding T3? I think it is just speculative what might or might not happen with T3 upgrades.

But as a T2 online owner, I definitely have no option to get the new mackie plugs except purchase an entirely new license. That makes no sense to exclude current customers.

I have not tried out the update yet because it failed when downloading yesterday. will try again today.

I would advise against a software update in the middle of a paid project. Finish the project, then install. The bigger the upgrade, the more likelihood something will get screwed up in the middle.

If it is time critical, never touch your system until done.

Today is the first time I have ever posted something negative about Tracktion; and my problem isn't with the program, it's with Mackie trying to bully me into paying out twice for it, in order to get some tasty-seeming proprietary plugins. Looks like I'll make do without, and Mackie don't get my money.

Let me add to the list of problems found......So far I have also had projects that would not open clips (aiff files). I have also had automation on tracks that would not update or edit properly. I have had deleted filters not dissapear from the track and other times when I try and drag a new filter onto a track nothing happens. When switching from the edit tab to the projects tab there is just a big black box where the list of projects should be. I have also had my sound card freak out and just start making nasty noise that could only be stopped by closing Tracktion. Not to mention many hangups that ended up in having to terminate Tracktion through Windows task manager. So far this "Update" is not much to brag about.....

(EDIT) also having to start and atop playback several times to get sound.

i trashed it and went back to 2.0.2.8
aiff wig out was too much to take for me.

Who would want that? People that know the program well enough to know the keyboard short cuts. And you can sit the master at zero and adjust it later. Or route all other tracks to a bus and do it that way.
