plug-ins get stuck

When I work on a song after a while all the filters get stuck, frozen to their current settings. Playback and everything else seems fine but when I want to tweak level/pan, EQ or compression the levels of all filters on all tracks just snap back to their old position (with the exception of the master bus).

I can work around this by deleting a plug-in and reinserting it into the track but then I loose all the settings.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Freezing some tracks to reduce CPU usage does not help. CPU usage is not even hitting 50% and I'm only working with 9 tracks (all audio-files, no MIDI).

Thanks for your help!

Sounds like you might have automation recording AND automation playback both constantly enabled?

Not a part of the loudness war!

Mahei,

You have recorded automation on those tracks, is my guess. Either intentionally or accidentally, or through a bug.

Someone might have a quick way of fixing it, but I generally find it just as easy to delete the entire track (having copied the clips to a new track, of course) and have done with it. If you've tweaked a particular sound that'll take more than a few seconds to recover, save it as a preset and load it into a NEW instance of the plug-in.

Automation is "attached" to the plug-in and not the track, so you have to delete the old instance and fire up a new one, if you want it without automation.

The long way of doing it is to press the small "A" in the track, display the automation curve for the parameter that's "stuck", and then at the bottom menu, Delete points from curve--> all points.

Using the "long" way, keep in mind that even if a curve "looks" flat, that doesn't necessarily mean that there's no automation on it. When you press that "A", ALL parameters that have been animated will turn to a highlighted colour (in my colour scheme, they turn from black to green).

Make sure the red automation button in the transport is off. Turn off the green one next to it when making a test.

Thanks for replying! I'll see if it has anything to do with automation ...
