No, there's no Access Virus device definition (yet), but:
"If you can't find a definition file for your device, you can import Cubase patch script files, or import one of the generic definition files that matches the type of your device. This will give you a set of default mappings, presets and parameters, which you then can choose to modify according to the specs of your device."

And I'm sure that there's no problem to find Cubase patch script for Access Virus.

I have a Q about external instruments. Say I want to hit record in cubase, hear my external synth running thru a bunch of VSTis, and record some real time (non-automatable) knob tweaking. Is it possible? Doesn't seem so.

You can tweak the knobs during export audio with external instruments (which is real time) and the changes get recorded as part of the mixdown.

kangul, I've got a question.
let's say I select a sound in my hardware synth and tweak it till it becomes a very different sound. BUT suppose I don't want to store it in the synth, I want the sequencer to remember it. Does Podium allow this? how?
thx

You can record sysex preset dumps from your synth, and then convert them to presets in Podium. Read about it here

It seems very interesting, and maybe, after I transfer the demo to my music pc (something I've had no time yet) and try the program there, gert familiar with it, maybe I'll like it to combine it with my FL Studio.
However, I'm not sure yet of one thing still: my synth is an Access Virus Indigo, and I've seen there's no device definition for it. That makes me hesitant. Even if there's no device definition for it, can I still dump the sysex of a sound from my Virus into podium and convert it into a preset so I can use that sound later with the synth without having to store it in the synth?...
thx zynewave.

Yes. When there is no specific device definition for your synth, you import it using the 'generic monotimbral/multitimbral instrument' definition. If you can find/google a Cubase patch script file for the Virus, you can import this file instead to get all the factory program change presets defined in Podium.Even if there's no device definition for it, can I still dump the sysex of a sound from my Virus into podium and convert it into a preset so I can use that sound later with the synth without having to store it in the synth?...

Ah, that's interesting.
Actually, even though to have an editor for your synth is nice, that's not really what worries me.
As I say, the problem is the folowing: I can't save the sounds I make in my synth in my host because it doesn't work with sysex, and so it's not easy to do it. And I can't save them easily in my synth cos the memory available is short.
So if Podium is able to allow me to save the sounds I create in my synth, which I don't want to store in the synth, and so create them as presets and so restore that sound every time I need to use it without storing it in the synth, that's what I really need actually.
