lunch..tracktion isn't a religion you dont have to blindly defend it even when it behaves irrationally.
Fundementalist Tracktioneers are the fastest growing religion round here it seems.

Other people have had these problems who started this thread?

I update when I like and in good faith..(religion again)
I updated because I naievely thought It was coming bundled with a nice Reverb and EQ but mostly because of mp3 support which is really useful for me to e-mail stuff down to London which I have to do on a regular basis.

If mackie are paying your bills then sure you should feel obliged to defend tracktion.
Anyway I got music to make not hang round here being sychophantic.
It's software FFS..

You are spot on. This is basic file management. It's not as if there are a hundred different file types being used. I'm not impressed at all. I could have lost a whole project. I'm not that interested in changing all my file names everytime I want to use an aiff file although I'm grateful for the tip. Hopefully Mackie will acknowlege this glaring error and address it as a priority.

mapper, I have nothing better to do and no opportunity to make music half the time. That doesn't mean it's a religion to me. It just means my hobby of cutting through bullshit and into the logic of a situation happens to manifest itself in the RMS forum a couple times a day.

You'll see the same thing with any issue. It'd be the same thing if I were a Sonar user, or with another hobby-- for example, see my posts at ProjectGuitar.com. It's logic and debate that are my religion... RMS forum is just one of my many avenues. Get it straight.

For every "sycophantic" post (I'm assuming you mean threads in which my comments 'defending' T aren't strictly necessary as your personal definition of "sycophantic"), there are at least several dozen helpful posts. Just because you don't personally like the approach I've taken in this thread (hey, I can't always be a diplomat) doesn't mean that I'm full of "blind" faith. Rather, every element of my "faith" is predicated purely on logic, not suck-uppage. In the midst of helping, I have also "defended", and at times (check some recent threads) I have agreed on T's shortcomings. I hope when you see THOSE threads you remember those things and don't just jump to blind conclusions because I've pressed your button.

but as classicdave just said this is basic file management.
He could have lost a whole project.
I lost half a day sorting the bugs out.
Sure there's a million variables from system to system.
When I do have some down time i'll try again because regardless of my woes tracktion is still my only squeeze and I shall love her till the ends of time.

Sure, and I agree. My only point was that it's human error. It's not like someone set out to ruin file extensions. Something that basic can only be an oversight. The programmers are human, too.

here's hoping for an update soon..till then i'm sticking with 2.0.8
it's been solid for me.

I'm really looking forward to the mp3 export cus that will save me heaps of time converting.

i'm confident that this will be fixed ASAP (even if its just a mac patch like thay did with the final mix mac beta)

this was a silly error that can be fixed easyly (& we all make mistakes)

so blaim the testers & the programmers & sit tight for the update

if you have been using mac then i strongly reconmend

1) dont update intill the patch is here

2) install 2.1 as a new app with a new name (not shure how to do this on mac

sorry)

But mackie know about this, so i dont think it will be a long wait

No problem cutting them a bit of slack. But in my book someone somewhere needs to be told he was a bold boy I just hope as mapper said that they fix it quick. In the meantime I'm glad I kept the 2.8 v.

You can just drag and drop it onto the desktop and run it from there.

my original is in my applications folder.

I'm still dubious though and will wait for a fix.

Just wanted to say that we have confirmed this bug. Sorry I didn't post earlier but I am still away in california finishing up NAMM stuff and I haven't had consistent internet access or any time away from the show until now.

hurrah...thanks beno.
I've been testing 2.1 out of interest and have noticed several bugs but none as unnerving as losing files to white noise.
I'm pretty sure final mix has gone a bit strange with audio drop outs and cpu overload too.
Heres waiting for the next update because some of the new features are really great.!

Re converting files to mp3. Learnt a really cool way to do this if you have iTunes pc or mac. Go to preferences in iTunes. Select advanced. Select importing. Select mp3 option. Open files you want to convert with iTunes. Select advanced on top toolbar. Click on convert files to mp3 option. Voilla! You can them simply drag mp3 file out of iTunes to any folder or location you want.The great th1ng is that it actually makes a copy in mp3 format so that your original file remains in its original format. Very useful but try it first on a few sample files in case I have missed something here.

yeah i been doing this in itunes for ever but all those clicks and making sure you know where your files can get a bit time consuming.
There's a couple of mp3 converters out there that use a simpler drag and drop interface but itunes is OK.

I've been using 2.1 and exporting as mp3 and it does save a lot of hassle.
If the small niggles are ironed out in the next update I'll be very happy!..
