OK,
Who else scratched their head on this one? If I want to solo a track, I press the S button for solo. Tracktion is NOT a mixer, nor do I ever want it to act like one.
Solo in Tracktion has always meant an exclusive solo, muting all other tracks simultaneously. Well, not after the new upgrade.
I just spent 15 minutes trying to figure out what I forgot with T, when it all came down to this new 'feature' of T to have solo button presses be 'cumulative' instead of 'exclusive'.
Please default the next release so it behaves as expected, then those mixer lovers can have the cumulative if they go in and select 'cumulative' mode.

That's the reason why (after re-reading) I deleted my first posting: It looks like he *knows* that it's changeable, but he's moaning to have the original behaviour as default.valley wrote:you know you can set the default yourself in the settings, right?

I agree. The default for a new user should be exclusive.
In the same way that the default for locking the filter panel is unlocked. (new feature)

I think this is such a matter of personal taste that there's no "right" answer. I personally prefer cumulative, but can see why people would want it the other way.
Maybe in true Tracktion-esque hand-holding way there could be a popup dialogue to ask you which way you want set as default the first time you solo a track
Bit like the pop-up balloons defaulting to on ...

I wondered both of those things, but I figured I might as well mention it, just in case. I like exclusive solo - particularly when I've got 5 or 6 or more tracks and truly want to just solo a track to fiddle with it individually.
I guess it's time to study the release notes in detail to see what other surprises might be there.
I guess I'd like T to work like it did before the upgrade, and then let me add in the changes I'm interested in.

In all fairness, the release notes say that it's a new option. 
New customers won't ever wonder what's different, so it's what they're used to.
I prefer the old way, too, so I switched it over, but it's really completely arbitrary which way to do it because it's all down to personal preference. Since it's arbitrary, and since it's a documented feature, I don't see any pressing need to change it either way.

Not having read every word of this thread, I can say this from a developer's point of view:
It's a good rule in general to preserve existing behavior for existing installs. Avoids frying brain cells.
It should have been possible to have one default setting for the pref for existing installs (preserve old behavior), and another for new installs (new cumulative behavior).
