Assertion failure during install of Guru

I picked up a copy of Guru and am trying to get it installed on my Receptor.

I was prompted for the serial number which I entered without issue then I encountered Assertion failed error.

The error message displayed on the receptor is as follows:

Assertion failed!

Program: c:\windows\system\rm-host.ext
File: \Local\Users\angus\Devine Machine\GURU\so...\REX.cpp
Line: 943

Expression: gREXLoadCount==1

Initially I tried to install the DLL first without the GuruData folder installed since this is how the Windows install works. I've since added the folder and all of the content but the message persists and the plugin won't install. I don't get a failed install message and after the receptor reboots, it still shows as a plugin ready to install.

I've also noticed that folders which I copied over to the root directory cannot be removed now. Is there a way to do this?

Todd.

Hi

When i searched for GURU in this forum, i noticed a number of threads on GURU working as an unsupported plugin with sluggish redraws. We didnt get a chance to work on it yet. Regarding the folders, do u mean the root directory as the same level as Samples and Drop Installers Here folders?

Hi Farhan,

Yes, I set up the GURU data folder at the same level as the System, Drop Installers here, etc. folders. I basically tried to repeat how fxpansion installed it on my PC where GURUData was installed at C:\GURUdata. Is that the cause of the error? How do I delete these folders?

Thanks,

Todd.

Hi Todd,

I am not sure if that caused the error. I'll have to try it. I am surprised you were able to create a folder in that level in the first place. Let me try it tommorow and also contact me directly with the exact folder name you want to get rid of.

Thanks Farhan. In case it helps, I was able to move the GuruData folder to \Samples\FXpansion. While you can move and rename these folders that are created at the root level, you can't seem to delete them. There is a system subfolder that contains files that are rewritten when deleted. This is with receptor OS 1.4.

I have renamed a folder 'Deleteme' at the root level which needs to be removed. I also have a few in \Samples\FXpansion that need to be removed.

Thanks.
