Bad week-end with Receptor

I've had one of my worst week-end.
I received my Receptor last monday, and since I didn't do a second of music, although I worked with it almost every day...
I bought a keyboard and a mouse and I attached a VGA monitor (no, the Remote Control is definitely unuseable).
I integrated the Receptor to my network. To do so, I chose MANUAL TCP/IP address, and connected it to a ethernet hub to communicate with my two other Macs on my private network (not connected to the internet).
The first thing is that I feel I have no control on the harddisk of the Receptor. I created a folder called "imports" in Samples to importe my own sounds, using Kontakt2. I made plenty of tests, with different sound formats, and Kontakt is behaving very well. But...
As I have a 40Gb hard disk, very quickly, I had to remove some of the sounds I had imported. Surprise, that's not possible. I will have to live with that folder and these sounds until the end of my life (unless I get rid of this machine). So I decided I would remove banks/patch/sounds of Kompakt wich is running in demo mode. I want to uninstall the plug-in (I won't buy it) and try to get about 3Gb on my drive. Nope, not possible, I don't have enough privileges for that (connecting via smb and appletalk).
Last but not least, now my Receptor can stay turned on about 5 minutes at a time. After that, it just shuts down, just as if I unplugged the power cord. To restart it, I have to unplug the power cord for about 20 seconds and then it restarts normally.
I'm completely disappointed. The first impression I have about my great new Receptor is a failure. I had to unplug it, and take it back home because I feel that if I don't have AT LEAST an internet connection, I will never have a useable Receptor...
If anyone can give me any help, I would be grateful.
Thanks.
Nicolas

Hi Nicolas,
You should be able to drag the samples you've loaded into the trash, from the deskyop of one of the computers in your network.
Also, the remote control works great for me on a mac.
I believe there is a procedure for deleting the preinstalled plugs and their libraries, but I don't know what it is, so I will leave that and the shutting down problem to the Muse folks to advise you.
Good luck!!!

Hi Nicolas,
Sorry to hear about all your troubles. I will be contacting you as soon as i can on the issues. I am sending ur way a samples directory permission fixer which will solve ur samples problem to begin with.

Hello,
I'm Nickair's colleague and we "fought" the Receptor together this weekend. A real nightmare! The good point is that it cannot be worse. It can only get better.
Have you got any idea why the Receptor switches off when we plug a RJ45 cable on it? (That is the last possible reason we found after in depth testing.)
This machine doesn't do what you say it does. It's so much trouble to install and let run (cf. Nic's description) that I cannot see any advantage compared to a PC running Cubase.
I'll be so glad to have your opinion about all that.
Thanks.

Many of us are up and running trouble free, and speaking for myself, I have been evere since I purchased it.
I can only suggest you hang tight and speak with Muse. Their support is excellent.

Uh oh!
I posted on another thread about how great my receptor was. Got mine last TUESDAY, one day after yours. As it turns out, mine is exhibiting VERY similar behavior....and it appears to be related to the network cable! Shuts down after about 5 minutes. When I unplug everything from the back and reintroduce them one at a time (after unplugging and replugging power cable) it seems that the network cable is the culprit...doesnt last very long once that is plugged in...it seems to run indefinitely if I leave it unplugged.
I wonder if we got a bad batch!? I'll be calling support when they open today...I think I am still a couple hours away from that (east coast.) Please continue to post any updates on this thread, and Ill do the same.

Could you guys open a support ticket on plugorama and paste the exact above issues in the form. I would also like to know the version of receptor you are running.

I got the "samples directory permission fixer". It worked fine. For the rest I feel like it's getting worse... I'm currently working with Muse people to solve the other issues... Thanks.

We have tried a bunch of stuff on my end (same problem as Nick, I think) and have not had any luck just yet.

Nick, any luck yet? Mine is boxed up and ready to ship back. Can't get it to stop turning itself off.
Very, very sad.
