Hi,
Previously very stable on 2.0. Installed 2.1 and working on a fairly simple song created in 2.0 not so long ago.
Resets VST (Synth1) to default patch after a few seconds and crashes badly fairly regularly.
Anyone else?

Two crashes on my session today. One trying to merge a bunch of small (about 30 two bar) midi clips: it just hung forever and wouldn't load again after the process was stopped. The other was strange. I don't know exactly what caused it, but the last thing I tried was splitting a clip. Tracktion quit responding and did strange graphics things: ie, colors changed (kind of blanched), the word "Tracktion" appeared along the left side, nothing would play, it hung. I was too busy working to get the track done to investigate. It was a drag, but not too much data was lost and I finished the work.

I saw something similar to that yesterday, kL - I tried to open the "track" menu during working with an edit and the area the menu would have occupied was filled with a corrupted bitmap then the program hung - looks like the memory management of the GUI code in 2.1.06 isn't what it could be....

This used to happen with one of the T1 updates. There is another thread about it here: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=120069

I didn't explain very clearly (as usual). Synth1 goes back to the default patch just about after every operation. This was not an issue in 2.0 or in any other DAW i've used it with.
The crashes may or may not be related but they are the scary type with blue screens when you reboot
Its gone from 2.0 = rock solid to 2.1 just about unusable. This is a fairly stock Dell Pc with an Echo MIA soundcard

just to say the beta team are looking into this so as much info as possable will be verry handy
mac pc?
amd, pentium?
any plugs used,
any thing at all
thanx in advance
PS, if you rename the old T2 exe (in your c:\program files\Tracktion 2, folder<for windows, unles chainged from defalt>) to somthing different, you can run both vershions (new & old) side by side

Intel
XP Pro
ATI All in Wonder 9800 Pro
MOTU 828MKII
The first time it happened I was drawing in some volume and panning automation. I went to scroll back in the edit and the track with the automation on it stayed in one place while all the other tracks became scattered. It then closed on its own leaving Tracktion running under processes. It can’t be manually stopped under processes. It either times out after 10 minutes or so or it requires a reboot. Depends on its mood at the time.
Note: This is a new computer which I built about a week ago. There isn’t much running on it other than T2, the driver for MOTU, Oxy8, and Acrobat Reader. XP Pro with latest patches.
The only plugin I had in the edit outside of the standard T-EQ was Microtonic, in a rack, triggering the Tracktion sampler. Problem is this worked in previous versions.

"Remove all program changes for this clip" seems to have cured the problem. I've never used this option before so i've either accidentally set a program change to default patch (dont think so) or somehow T2 has set this option for me.
Synth1 now looks OK. So i'll continue to work in T2 and see if I get any more crashes and let you know.
Thanks for your concern, For the record
Dell Dimension 8300 P4
1Gb RAM
Win XP Home with latest patches
Echo MIA
track 1 was frozen
track 2 Sampletank wrapper
track 3 Sampletank wrapper
track 4 Sampletank wrapper
track 5 Synth 1
track 6 Sampletank wrapper
No previous problems with Sampletank
Cheers
