Bug in export and automation ?

Hi,

I noticed a few bugs in Tracktion (last version), i would like to know if anybody had the same :

1/ Everytime i do an export to wav of a clip or region... the wav file is always missing between 50 and 100 ms at the end. So i don't trust that much in the render/export possibilities...

2/ Since the latest version, i cannot deactivate automation reading by clicking on the button (transport panel). When i click on it, it's still active and the song starts to play !! (as if i click on "play"). The shortcut "h" works well hopefully.

3/ when i load a project, Tracktion uses a lot of swap memory, even with small projects (250 MB without Tracktion and between 500 to 700 when Tracktion is loaded !).

I don't have it in front of me so I don't know where to find it, but there's a place where you can tell Tracktion what your "threshold" for silence is. It seems to me that by default it's -90dB instead of -inf. Which means that the end product will be just the teeniest bit shorter, if it has reverb tails. Could this be it, or is it an unrelated issue?

No, can't confirm! Works as expected here: No matter if I use the mouse or press the shortcut "h".

Hmmm, can't remember that I ever have seen this. Maybe you confuse it with the input trigger level?

Nope. It's to do with either render or export. I can't remember which since I'm not at home.

I can't find that option. But i don't think that is related to, because the problem is still there with a "loud" clip, from the beginning to the end of the clip It really annoys me, 'cause i often render clips to work it with Audacity for example...

gregs mysterious setting relates to audio inputs so thats a red herring i think ... in the export dialogue you dont have 'remove silence at start and end' checked do you ??? (oddly enough - i just did a couple of test renders of individual clips and found my renders were actually too LONG due to effects tails) ...

dont really pay too much attention to swap files (not actually running one at all at the moment) so cant be of much help here ... sorry ...

2 things to clarify before we go any further ... are you PC or mac (im PC) ??? ... and just to double check we ARE talking about the current release (2.1.0.6) ???

Yes i'm on PC and i'm talking about v2.1.0.6.
And 'remove silence at start and end' is not used in the export (unchecked).

Automation button still doesn't work after a new install... strange... but it doesn't bother me that much if the shortcut "h" works properly.

Aha ... so the automation button problem is probably a language version issue then.

Grr. I *know* why I don't trust the localizations anymore... Even when they told me in the release notes that they fixed several language-related bugs, I didn't even consider to switch the language to any other than English.

Yes, i tested it in English and the automation button works fine.
I wonder if there are others language-related bugs
I'll make a post on the Mackie forum to let them know.

This is totally unrelated but... Since I suck in
french your buttons had new and unmeaningful names,
atleast to me. But somehow I couldn't get rid of the thought that you somehow had "more"-...

I just had to turn on the french lang to find out,
but nope, different names but it is still the same...

Maybe because in french there are more words needed for the translation, so it takes more space

If you look in the file C:\Program Files\Tracktion2\lang\Francias.lang, you can see that "play" and "read" are both translated to "lecture" which is the problem. It is just a text file, you can edit it in notepad. Delete or change the line "read" = "lecture" and you are good to go.
