The only thing the bypassed RP-7 could do to the sound is cripple it
again please forgive me, but if we are talking about how xmas tube sounds (which I thought was the point) then you just said xmas tube alone wouldn't be as good...and that's my point...how do we know which part is the RP-7 and which part is xmas tube?

FWIW, I do not think the RP-7 is a weak link for you at all. I do not care for it, but you do and you play well with it...so it can't be a weak link...;)

Hink, when did he said that "xmas tube alone wouldn't be as good"? I must be looking at the wrong page.

when he said by-passing the RP-7 would only cripple it......in other words if he went direct through with out using anything on the RP-7 it wouldn't sound as good is how I took that, if I'n wrong please correct me...but like he says, you need a di....;)

Didn't I say the opposite when I said "cripple" the sound (sorry, not my native language) ? I meant [DI Box (i.e.: no coloration) + Xmas] better than [RP-7 + Xmas] I have to stress that here, the Rp-7 is a default choice (for not having a DI Box) and not a techie, fanboy or else decision, really I just turn on the damn thing and voilà.

how do we know which part is the RP-7 and which part is xmas tube?
hence my remark about the test not being "scientifically" acceptable.

He, he I see what you mean here. But honestly, I have no degree in the art of RP-7ing and most of all how could any remnants of knowledge about the gear could I take advantage of in front of a mere volume control. If there's coloring at some point, I sure have no control over it (well, I see you coming, except the volume of it).

You know what ? In honour of your scientific rigour I'll re-record the riffs using the mic input of my soundcard. It will be the same tone (I say that from experience) > conclusion : exact same type of coloration (what are the odds ?) OR no coloration.

Now don't ask me why I use the RP-7 then ;)

(so much for going early to bed)

he he took me some time writing my post, so I missed where our friend Hink got confused... my bad, I shouldn't have typed "would"... I AM in a total bypass situation and IT CAN only cripple the sound. Get me ?
Now for that DI... :)

Oh and good night !

I have it, but I haven't tried it yet. Bruce Campbell's biography has taken all my time away from me.

Some, a small number of you did NOT get ANY sound out of XmasTube...
Each time the same mistake was made.

I personally, hardly ever read the 'readme' files or at least not completly...
If you have any problems getting sound, read the 'Merry Christmas.txt' !
Also reading it, will help you to set it up right,
so you can get a great response to your playing.
Install:

Simply unpack the WHOLE included folder into your
VSTpluginfolder, that all.
(You NEED the WHOLE XmasTube folder for the plugin to work.)

Place the WHOLE XmasTube folder inside your vstplugin folder.

Inside the XmasTube folder is another XmasTube folder
and the XmasTube.dll
THEY MUST STAY TOGETHER TO WORK !
Hope this helps. ;)
