Btw somebody on another thread suggested to post this link in here:

http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=1903#

It is an old video of AT2 from NAM2005, presented by none other than our own resident cephalopod, mr. Squids himself, and that same boring dude ( fabrizio ) from last week-end's NAMM. I dunno why the keep on bringing him to the trade shows, he must be the bosse's son or something...anyways...

If you ask me, the NAM2005 demo sounded more impressive then the latest incarnation. And back in January2005, it seemd ready to be released. Now, a year after and still nothing.

What the heck have they done in a year? make it sound worst? :)

It is interesting that it is so delayed - GR2 must have made them make some adjustments. Although the best so far that I have heard are the PSA 1.1 and Midiworks project..SoundSpectral.

Man, you got to understand him! Always demoing the same product every year... you would look as depressed as him!

Not if I don't register it
Great! I thought that they would automatically register a well as your dongle you based on your Amplitub1 registration. My bad.

I would be interrested Chibs, drop me a PM when you receive it :)
Shit man.. I never thought of that... :o

I really hope this isn't the case though. But y'know what, even if it is, I would definitely consider selling all of my IKMM stuff together as one big bundle and just give the other person my account details that they can then change at a later stage ;)

Not sure if I will remember to drop you a PM, so when it's out, drop me one too

Come to think of it though.. I don't think they will do that. I think you're supposed to have the option by law to not open and therefore NOT own the product by law.

If the seal isn't broken, then it isn't mine until I open it and register it on my IK account... I think... I hope...

Hehe at that old 05 video. Truely I don't think the vids are a good representation of the products and only when you get the thing in your hands can you make that accurate judgement on if it sounds good for you and your playing/set-up.

The delay does seem over the top. What the heck had those IK boys been up to in all this time?

Okay. I know it is a matter of opinion but in my opinion anyone who says AT2 didn't sound AMAZING at the show is a little picky (one way to put it... another way is to say they are freakin' out of their minds ;) ). I listened to all of the amp sim demos to compare and AmpliTube 2 smoked them all. Sure, I am biased. But, I also look for tools for my music too. I use a lot more than just IK software believe me. For example Kontakt 2 is one of my favorite samplers (we even made some of the sounds for the Factory bank) and Waves has some of my favorite "tweakhead" engineering plug-ins (and I think I am gonna get that SSL... yummy). However, judging overall AmpliTube 2 just hits the nail on the head as does Ampeg SVX and the others don't really compare in my opinion. I am the first to say that besides TRackS my favorite outboard plugs are the UAD card (although Nigel sucks). I really don't care what anyone thinks. A great product is a great product. People should know about it.

Sorry. I know some people love to bash AT2 for fun but for those that really know when something is great such as this there's no question. Anyone who was in fact at the NAMM show surely saw the MASSIVE crowd of people and famous musicians hanging around the IK booth. They weren't swarming around other amp sim demos I am sorry to say. Someone can report to you and say whatever they want but I was there and saw it/heard it myself. I am sure there are some videos taken that will back that up a bit but to be there in person is really an experience. Are you experienced? :D

Show demonstrations through studio monitors isn't quite the same as a regular live PA/amp situation. However, that said, I listened to some great guitar players sound thick as a brick! The presets aren't all the final ones. But, there are some really great ones in there for sure. I am working on presets for it as well. AT2 is really amazing. Don't let anyone convince you otherwise. You'll be missing out.

Hello Squids,

The only way to judge an amp sim is to demo it, period. No videos or mp3's or hype can replace this experience. So you are right; until a demo is out, I won't let anybody convince me it is a great product. Or otherwise.

Jokes aside, most pro musicians I have met didn't need much convincing. It is pretty obvious just seeing/hearing/trying it. Believe that or not, it's up to you.

We sell it on www.esoundz.com so I will do my best to convince esoundz customers (I have been working on some Floydy/Zep demos which is more my style but also some harder stuff as well as jazz/blues that we'll be posting next month).

However, I think that anyone who doesn't just KNOW they want to buy it (which so many do outside of this forum... I know because they've told me over and over almost too much!) will have to spend some time with it in a guitar store to see if it has what they want/need or not.

Hey, if it doesn't then to each his own! For the intro price though I think anyone who has a virtual studio (PT, Cubase, Logic etc.) and does anything close to rock/jazz/blues etc. would be foolish not to pick it up while you can get it this cheap. It's not like I care if someone says they're not convinced. That's YOUR problem! I only mention it for people reading slams from others that are not convinced to make up their own minds and maybe listen to all sides... or just themselves. In the end when I buy something about 10% of my decision is based on what I've heard from others and 90% is just how I feel about it... I ask the simple questions "Do I want this? Is it a good price?".

Something this good I have to ask "Why deprive yourself of it?" if you are a musician making music on the computer. Budget concerns are understandable although relatively speaking AT2 is a steal. (Hey, I've taken loans out for studio gear back in the day!). So... that's my opinion. We're all entitled to them.

Cheers.

Right on Melodioso! A few minutes at a crowded trade show won't give it justice.

Actually, that's just your opinion. I happen to agree with it personally (well, actually at this price I would just buy it on the online info personally but if it was more expensive then I might be more particular about the purchase).

Anyway, I think that if you have the slightest doubts about a purchase then further investigation and getting the personal experience if you can is the way to go. Each person is different. I sometimes take that "leap of faith" if the price is say under $500. But, I admit that if I really don't know how I feel about it I have to sit with the product. That's just me though. I am used to making music/sounds for a living. A hobbyist might have a different criteria.

I am all for people making the most informed buying decisions they can though. For our web store we're trying to think of everything we can on www.esoundz.com to help since we don't have the ability to let you try it out. That's where the brick stores really have an up on the web stores. You'll be able to try it out next month and see for yourself either way.

There is this one now: http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=2640

No super-metal on display here, tho :) hehe

ps. I like the "my brother" presentation too

I thought the "are you experienced" bit, while related to what he was saying ('experience helps') was mainly a tip of the hat to Jimi. ;)
