hmmm, how are you supposed to hear ANYTHING quality wise in this sound quality....

I guess I can hear a bit...

Why would it be bad if it's based on convolution? Have you tried TriToneDigital's Hydratone? It is excellent. Probably one of the best eq plugins, at any price.

The only bad thing is that it's a 'static' impulse that doesn't change the dynamics in any way (like analogue would) but then again the SSL has always been famous for it's ultra low noise and transparency.

Judging by what is said about their guitar amp modelling technique, they seem to be able to sample and recreate without the need for convolution...lord knows how.

I think this is great, I like how we're getting all sorts of high quality models to work with, this is excellent for DAW users; gives us a way to compete with higher-end studios.

Well.

It really doesn't, unless you happen to have a Studer 2" and a bespoke live-room and a bespoke listening/control room and tens of great microphones and the ability to track 16-24 tracks simultaniously...

But it certainly isn't all bad news!

:)

i didnt say it was BAD -- but I think a straight on emulation would be much better.

Ever heard of the Focusrite Liquid Channel?
Actually, the Liquid Channel uses dynamic convolution, which is patented by Focusrite's business parters at Sintifex.
Excuse all the blood.

Well, I'm not trying to insinuate that it "levels the playing field" or anything; but specifically silky-smooth EQ's that don't crap out and the very useful compressor models. I think it helps; my mixes certainly have benefited form the analog-modelling craze, be it free or high-end stuff. I don't feel I'm fighting the cold element as much anymore. :D

Fancy runnig a few of those on your PC?!

:D

Fancy paying massive fees to Sintifex for the right to build the plugin?

Fancy that one instance of equal quality would eat about 95% cpu on an Athlon 64 4800+ ? ;)

My sintefex FX8000 has 36 Sharc DSP's to do the math and they are not the same cheap ones used in the SCOPE platform. Count from there. :hihi:

SSL is great ... more for the bus-compressor than anything from what I've heard. As far as consoles go I'm more of a Euphonix fan, but this plugin should be a nice addition.

I'm more interested in the Universal Audio / AMS Neve deal ... that should produce considerable results.
