I'm attempting to install Spectrasonics Stylus RMX on my Receptor. I downloaded the Stylus prep file from Plugorama AND received the identical download from Spectasonics. When I drag the file to Drop Installers Here folder on the Receptor and attempt to install it on the Receptor GUI Setup page, it says 0 installed, I failed. What do I need to do now?

Thats cause it is preinstalled on your receptor already. Go back to the same page where you downloaded the installer on plugorama and read the instructions on how and where to move your data. If you dont see the RMX folders on your receptor, let us know.

First of all, the document you mentioned states that Stylus RMX is not supported yet. Is this still true? In that case, I need not pursue this any further. But I am confused when you mention that "it" is preinstalled on the Receptor. What is "it"? The document you pointed me to tells me to put the stylusrmx-prep-1_0-2.mrpk in the Drop Installers File. It still is reading as failed. Now I am more confused. Please help!

Open the folder "Program Files" on your Receptor at the same level with "Drop Installers Here" Then, open "VST Plugins/Unsupported Plugins" Is there a folder "Spectrasonics" inside? If there is one, open it. Is there a folder "Stylus RMX" inside? That's where you need to copy your files.

"it" is the stylusrmx-prep-1_0-2.mrpk which you are trying to install. Please go back to the page:musicbysterling wrote:First of all, the document you mentioned states that Stylus RMX is not supported yet. Is this still true? Skip the steps 1, 2, 3 and read Stylus RMXInstallation.pdf for full instructions on installing Stylus RMX..
Yes, Stylus RMX is not supported. Thats why we have a prep installer which helps you install the program. But you have to manually move the data files to the correct folders.

If Stylus RMX is not supported, why is it already in my Receptor?

Its not the program which is installed on your receptor. Its the "prep installer" which helps you install the program which is installed. The prep installer is preinstalled on most shipped receptors.
If you are still confused, just call us, it saves time.

There are two kinds of plug-ins with Receptor. Most supported plug-ins come pre-installed on Receptor or there is an installer that installs most files including the dll. In some cases the sample libraries, which are very, very large have to be copied over by the user. With supported plug-ins there is an agreement between Muse Research and the developer. Finally, all supported plug-ins are thoroughly tested.
With most unsupported plug-ins the customer is on its own. There is no testing, there is no installer, and there is no agreement with the developer.
The Spectrasonics plug-ins fall somewhere in between. The developer - Spectrasonics - forbids us from pre-installing the plug-in or distributing an installer. But, because these plug-ins are very popular and many customers ask for them, we try to make the life of the customer easier, by providing the folder where they have to copy the dll and the samples. Also these plug-ins have been tested by us and they work.
Since you do have to copy the dll to the "Unsupported Plugins Folder" and press install in the SETUP page while checking the "Include the Unsupported Plugins" folder, we call these unsupported.
We are very happy to help you get this going. I would suggest that rather than debate the semantics of the word "unsupported" we concentrate on the concrete steps you need to take in order to install this plug-in.

I finally got it going with the help of Petosa Music. I have no desire to debate semantics, but I have to say that it is quite confusing.
