i'm very stoked about the Emulator X2, it looks like they are really making it into a great combo of sampler & synth...i have the orgiginal EmuX, i understand they will have a usb midi interface that will make it available to everyone w/o Emu hardware (just a dongle?), but the software updates seem like they are realy trying to make it the powerhouse softsampler it should be based on its pedigree...the vst i've been waiting for...

I'M STOKED...MARCH BABY!!!!
KVR: come for the music, stay for the polemics and grammar lessons...

Mackie has a new firewire interface coming out for around $249 that features the Onyx mic preamps on-board. It's not very feature-rich but really should be recognized as a breakthrough for anyone interested in mobile recording. I liked the little Edirol recorder, too, but I guarantee the Mackie will provide far better sound quality.

Dave Smith has a new keyboard version of the mono Evolver coming out, I'm surprised people haven't been talking about that more. Also, this might not be a new feature but I was really blown away by the super articulation function of the Yamaha Tyros. Seriously, I studied flamenco guitar in Spain yet never sounded as good as the demonstrator playing a flamenco patch on that keyboard. He went on to play a sax solo that sounded more realistic than what we heard at the Akai wind controller demo. Hopefully Yamaha will find away to build that into a Steinberg product eventually.

All in all, aside from these few items, I was pretty underwhelmed. Last year was definitely better.

Tyros 2 is absolutely stunning  . Like you I was blown away when I went to the pre-release launch thing at Yamaha HQ last October. Amazing!
