Yep. All you have to do is start playback a bit before the 1st note. 
It's been said in this forum that it won't be fixed until the engine is overhauled, because for something seemingly simple, it's a core problem. Not trying to be adversarial, but I've always found it exceedingly easy to completely forget about this issue by starting my song a measure later.
