So far I know of...
Kjaerhus GPP1
TbT PocketLimiter
PSP VintageWarmer
Do you know any others ? DSP Card VST effects are also of interest to me

latency in dynamic-plugIns? only, if they work with lookahead, i think. and in this case, the latency equals the lookahead-time - at least, i do it that waysoundpalace wrote: hello, I'm just looking to compile a list of variable knee peak limiting VST plugins that can be used as inserts (i.e. low latency, under around 100 samples).
do you mean, that most dynamic-plugIns have a hidden lookahead? i expect from a plugIn, that - when there is no lookahead parameter - then there is no lookahead, and therefore no latency at all. however, if you are concerned about this, have a look at my free compressor. there you have a clear control about the lookahead time. when it is set to zero, than it is zero. it's not a limiter, but the ratio goes up to 1:20 and the time values go down to zero.soundpalace wrote:yep generally the limiter variety work with latency which is the lookahead time. Just looking for plugins which don't have a huge amount of latency, as I'm looking at tracking use.

actually it should be able to do so. from the plugIn point of view, i always inform the host about the new latency value, when it has been changedsoundpalace wrote:I assume that when it's manually adjustable, the host can not compensate for it ?

tracking? what do you mean with it in this context? The latency is not a severe concern, I was just looking for something with a relatively low latency to be used for tracking.
much thanks. it's always a good motivation, when someone actually has some use of my stuff.Very impressive Braindoc, that's an awesome compressor.
Neodynium from elemental audio has an attack that goes down to 20 micro secs. It also has an adjustable look ahead time and a built in limiter. May be worth a look for you also..soundpalace wrote: Your compressor can do a similar thing with the attack set very low, a lot of compressors I've tried do not provide this functionality i.e. a very very short attack time, which is a shame. The Voxengo Marquis does provide this though![]()
...but what IS "tracking" in the context of compressors? - i know terms like pitch tracking, partial tracking,...target tracking...but in compressors...?soundpalace wrote:hey braindoc, I use peak limiters for tracking all the time
ah. very enlightening. ...what else?martian wrote:bleh
