I'd recommend to anyone with a spare dollar to buy Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. Also Record Body count, from the same album, on the previous page. Actually, the entire albums of "Melville" and "Whale Music" (not "The Music for the Motion Picture Soundtrack Whale Music" which is also good but not the same thing) are brilliant if anyone wants to hear something different for a change.

Hey, I'm not against them selling the plug-ins separately, though I think I might have lost track of my own point in trying to make a clever analogy . I'm just saying that if it's not available (as when the single songs were NOT available over a decade ago-- you'll notice in the page that they say "NEW!") there's no point crying about the perceived injustice of it all. Maybe in 8 years you'll be able to download the individual plug-ins, too.

Yupp, but it must be stressed that I'm not pissed by this policy. The upgrade to T2 for $20 (Euro even less) is a steal and there are enough free & low price alternatives to these plugins out there (at least all of us got "Final Mix" )

So what are my wishes for the future? I doubt if there will be a 2nd "cheap" upgrade from T2 to T3 one day. We all have to buy a boxed version then. I just hope that the upgrade path will be easy and straightforward for people outside the US.

There is absolutely no reason not to give these to existing T2 download users. When T3 comes out everyone will have to pay whatever to upgrade to it and that price would be the same regardless.

Mackie loses nothing by offering these to download users, some of them long time Tracktion users (not me).

It gains Mackie nothing, and tells those users that Mackie doesn't really give a crap about them.

sorry but I can't understand that some of you cry with childish and stupid behaviour to the Mackie guys which are working on a great product which is offered for a fair price to the musicians community I think. Sure they want to make money... but they also HAVE to make money for our happiness!!! If not enough money comes in for the work they do a manager or financial controller will discontinue the project. Fullstop!. This would be the end of T-Time. Do you want that? Switching back with all your Projects on your HD to another host?... or never get the open issues fixed?

For 20$ you already got FinalMix and the other Mackie-Plugs.

For 160 $ I bought T2 boxed because my T1 NFR has not qualified me for upgrade...Lots of unuseful plugs in there too but still a good deal!!. Yes I am happy to get the new additional plugs and I also think it would be clever to offer them also separately. But hey.. Just VST plugins!!! You're on KVR here - plugins everywhere - and you can also buy them for different prices. Compressors, Reverb, EQ ... nothing unusual.

Nobody can buy the $20 upgrade anymore. If Mackie gives these Tracktion plugs to current download users, it does not cost them one cent more. All it does is say to the download upgrade users is that if you want this, you are SOL.

I completely support Mackie and any company to charge money for their hard work. That is not a point here. All they have done here is piss off some people and they have gained nothing, rather they have lost some credibility and gained no money.

I would not have thought twice about a $50 upgrade online. I prefer online download because it saves paper and resources which is important to me. I do not remember Mackie making it clear that it was a deadend choice.
