Personally I don't mind rewire & I like reasons stability & low cpu use - things that would likely diminish if it became an 'open' host.
There are a few additions i'd like to see though.
All personal opinion like though innit?
I should've said it would sell more. I also agree with John here.

People should start a petition or something to make Propellerheads add VSTi support to Reason. Reason would sell like hot cakes then!
Based upon their irrational behavior, I think that the exclusion of VSTis, MIDI out and audio recording has more to do with a non-competition agreement that they probably signed with Steinberg than anything else. It's the only thing that really makes any sense. If that is the case, then all the petitioning in the world won't help matters.

Besides, they've made it pretty clear that they have no intention of implementing these features. As far as I'm concerned, let them go out of business. Maybe then somebody with more common sense will buy them out and develop the product in a more logical manner.
What a weird company! If that's really how they feel... there's nothing we can do then.

i guess i confused some of you basically im recording my soft synths like a engineer would record a band sort of and basically im talking to the reason users that want to incorporate the use of soft synths without using another sequencer

You are right, I have always think that exclusion of VSTs, MIDI out and audio recording is due to an accord Propellerheads have made with Steinberg and that's why they have made Rewire, and Steinberg help them to make it work. (perhaps you have noticed that I'm not an English man).

But when Steinberg released VST2, it was some kind of competitor to Rewire (audio and midi protocol), so perhaps the Props could have broke their engagement at that time ?
