Controler assign in T1

Hi,

I'm almost sure the answer to my question is "nope" as I browsed a bit to find the answer without success... But I try, here it goes:

Is there a way - in T1 - to assign the tracks volume inserts (the ones on the right side of each tracks) to an external controler (my midi keyboards knobs - Korg LE MS20 controler).

Can you confirm that this is possible to do in T2 ?

As Mackie Control works with T2, I guess it is possible to do it in T2 with any other midi keyboard, right ?

As far as I know assigning midi controllers to VST parameters (and transport controls in 2.1) is a breeze. A serious reason to upgrade.
T2 users correct me if I 'm wrong cause I 'm still with my 1.6
