Groove Maker
It would be nice if there were a program that would allow the user to...
- Load in an audio file (or MIDI?)
- Select a section of audio and define it (ie. bar, two bars)
- View the audio on a grid with an ajustable resolution (ie. 1/16ths, 1/8ths)
- Automatically or maually move a second set of grid lines in order to align them with the displayed audio events
- create a new tracktion groove based on the differences between the re-aligned grid and the stationary one
Of course this could be built into Tracktion, but it would also work as an external app or as a VST plug.

I currently do this the hard way.
Load a beat into ReCycle > Mark the Hits of importance to the groove > Export the MIDI > Open the Rex file in Battery > Load another Kit in Battery > Manually play the midi notes in by hand > Edit the REX Midi File and my Midi file at once and move the notes around with Snap off!!!
Sometimes a bit of Tracktion Swing will work, but as the notes don't move you cannot "SEE" how they sit in relation to The REX midi hits.

if only we could get the mpc grooves into tracktion's groove scheme, having the mpc groove is a big thing im missing in tracktion. how hard would it be to have it be able to import grooves from midi files like cubase does?

MPC Groves are just basic swing grooves. There all available!!! Some kind user donated a whole stack of 'em. The %5 Swing 1/2, would be the same as %55 swing on a 1/4 quantise setting on your MPC.
