Hi there!
I think this is a serious limitation of tracktion. After recording midi the clips are set to ONE channel. And there is actually no way to record incoming multichannel midi signals (like eg coming from a hammond organ clone).
There should be an option added that plays back the midi on the same channel as it was recorded (option "all" in Cubase - at least in the older versions)
what do you think?

I didn't realize this, but now that I'm getting more into MIDI, and if it's the way you describe, I'd give your FR a +1.

I didn't realize this as well since I only ever use 1 channel at a time for recording.
You could use some ndcMIDIChannelfilters in a rack as a workaround.

I think that will only work for playing, not for recording: How can I route the MIDI output of a rack to a track I can record?

I use MIDI-Ox to route channels off to different virtual MIDI inputs. You can have 8 virtual channels at once--enough for a guitar but not enough to record 16-channel sequencer output.
I wish Tracktion's MIDI inputs could be set up by channel instead of by interface. In other words, if you have 1 physical MIDI in you should be able to make at least 16 virtual MIDI-ins (1 per channel).

Although i never use multichannel midi, I reckon Otterfan's suggestion is the most Tracktionesque, in terms of simplicity.
... having said that, it could get a bit crowded with 16 possible midi inputs available over on the left hand side ... an ability to hide some would be good

Sure, in normal tracktion style-- each should be able to be enabled/disabled!

I'd prefer the multichannel clip version. Anyway if it would be realised at the input side I'd opt for the simple possibility to make a 2nd 3rd... copy of a midi input. Channel filter per input is already implemented anyway.
