Hi Egbert,

well, I don't know Dirk. I only looked up "guitar shredding" in Google pictures. And then this and a few other cool ones came up. :D

Have fun, FRitz

I meant the tune and lyrics. Sorry if the reference was too obscure - Dirk Diggler was the screen name of the character played by Mark Wahlberg in the film Boogie Nights. Wahlberg was playing a porn star (based on John Holmes I gather ) and during a period in his life where he was not shooting porn he had this idea he could be a rock star. There were some scenes where he and his pal were making demo tapes of hilariously woeful tunes they had penned. The picture you supplied fits right in BTW.

I think it's pretty funny, yup.

That picture looks like a young Paul Gilbert being instructed by someone... Jeff Watson or summat like that. ;) Probably not Jeff Watson, though, because he was a bit goofy looking as a younger dude.

that pic is bordering on foreplay over here :P

btw, I didn't mean to start a fresh wave of Rene bashing. Blunt as he is, championrabbit does have a rather unfortunate point, which is that most of us haven't seen anything that distinguishes this from some guy with access to bunch of nice amps some plugins for degrading the sound, and way too much time on his hands. It doesn't seem likely that this is the case, but it's also not seeming likely I'll ever get to own something that sounds this good.

You will glurgle.
Even see something soon.
Please understand, this new engine changed everything !

1st there was my nice distortion and amp sound. (the old mp3 demos)
Then we added FX ect.
It was just a better amp sim than what was there at that time.
But I wanted something more, something different.
Then in nov/december when we were flodded here, I had time, (no Pc/net)
to think everything over.
Some ideas came up, and as crazy as it is, they worked !

Now suddenly I was able to model any high gain amp
with such accuracy, that it is frightening.

But what now ?
There we have a amp sim that is lightyears ahead of ANY other,
how to use this advantage right ?
This was the question that we had to ask ourself.

So a new concept was thought out,
new amp models are made,
a new gui, ect.

We have been listening to all the suggestions here and discused them,
also addopted some of those ideas.
You will have your amp, I promisse.

Hey, I just borrowed a Vibrolux Reverb from a friend. It's a beautiful sounding amp, maybe I can record a clip for Rene. How do you suggest I do that?

I thought of using my preamp, route one out to sound card and other to the amp then I could put two mics in front of each speaker (SM-57 and AKG-C3000), so Rene could have two different mic characters. I would record each mic on it's own track of cuorse and a clean take at the same time.

Would this be acceptable way of doing it?

You see I never used a preamp in front of guitar amp before. Is this OK or should I record two diferent clips one with mic+amp and the other to the PC....?

I guess a DI would be a better solution.

@mman
This would be great !
I will PM you.
Yes, a DI box would be the best solution.

Oh sweet, maybe you can offer Rene what I couldn't offer with these samples I posted before:

you hear a clean Vibrolux first, and then an overdrive is kicked on. Two different examples of diff settings.

Sorry, I don't have any, but on the other hand my preamp has a HiZ input for guitar (VTB1 StudioProject), if this is your concern.

As long as you get a good clean signal into the pc its fine.

Please check your pm. :)

Ah yes, this is the amp, but I will try to make it sound more clean,.... after all, if the clean sound is right you can always put a TS9 in front or whatever is your thing actually.....

I'll do something this weekend as I told Rene
