I am still waiting for a good answer to the question in this thread before forking out my hard earned cash for this upgrade 2.1
If it is a re-working of minor defects in the originals, why were these not made available for free?

Either defects or improvements that are a matter of opinion to SR who got involved in it. In order to add new material AND go through all of the original stuff and rework it Sonic Reality needs to get paid their part, IK needs to get paid their part for creation of and licensing of new material so... $99 is a good deal for the whole thing. We did it all in one go. It wasn't offered separated. We were doing new material and decided to go back and tweak up legacy material which took more time and effort (although in many ways, that is not even the part you are paying for... it just isn't offered ala carte, too large to do a download for example so if they are sold on discs they just have to cover the cost of everything on that disc).peppy197 wrote:I am still waiting for a good answer to the question in this thread before forking out my hard earned cash for this upgrade 2.1

Of course, no one is complaining that the software part was completely free. Six of one, half dozen of the other I think. No matter how you slice it, there's something for free here and something for a good price and ALL of it improves ST2.

Cool enough
and I know I need ST2 always, as it has evolved for me into my primary sound module used. (of course it is not the only sound source I use...)
I need it, yes, but do I need the new sounds that is what I am thinking about.
And I do agree your efforts deserve renumeration.

Using the free update to ST2.1 alone is pretty incredible. It is nice that the users have the option on the sounds or not. Imagine if the only way to get the update was to also get it with the sounds. So, this is much better I think (and rare so enjoy it while you can guys because I am sure the next software and/or sound update, at least major one like this, will be a paid one).peppy197 wrote:Squids wrote: and ALL of it improves ST2.

I can only say that I am surprised at how many sound upgrades sell (ie. thousands of them). So, whether people "need" them or not they seem to want it! If SampleTank 2XL is used a lot then you might as well get it. It is the price of an Expansion Tank but you get 4 times more material than that PLUS some nice enhanced versions of the older sounds.

Well, I just placed my order via the IK Sampletank site.Squids wrote: .......

Since I never bought any Expansion Tank stuff I should least get some new sounds, and more of the others yet improved.

Enjoy!
Got my parcel this morning.
First impressions were positive.
Squids said "enjoy" and that is the word that does describe my first try at a new jazzy piano sound.
Nicer new synth sounds too
Lots and lots more bass sounds, unless I never really looked before?
