BR Help! problem developed with archiving edits

I'm using the latest version 2.1.0.6 and I've encountered a problem while archiving an edit that has never happened before.

The new edit (the archived version) has lots of clips that say 'missing file'. This is somewhat worrying.

This happens if I choose either to archive the edit as files in a directory or as a single tracktion archive file.

All the files to be archived are on an external drive and are being archived to the same external drive. Another and most significant factor is that all of the clips with 'missing files' are looped audio clips (they have the + in the corner).

I would say this is a pretty serious bug and would need attention ASAP as archiving needs to be bomb proof IMHO.

N.B. The looped clips in the original had already been purged of unwanted takes and when you click the plus (+) sign a list comes up that says something like:
1. <deleted>
2. <deleted>
3. <deleted>

If this makes a difference I'm not sure.

I agree that archiving needs to be bomb-proof. However, I haven't run into this! I archive fairly regularly (and did so with 2.1.0.6) and so far no edits have shown up with missing files.

Anybody else?

lunch - try archiving a loop that already has been purged of unwanted takes (ie archive it first and select use shortest possible media files).

I've had the same thing happen, when I moved certain project from the PC to Mac. Upon investigating I couldn't find a way to reliably reproduce the bug. When I have finally finished moving houses and find a minute, I will investigate further. The looped clip hint may be helpful.

I've just tried it with a different edit that has looped clips that have already been purged and got the same result.

I think I may have an answer:

The looped clips that have been purged of unwanted takes all say they are 'take 0' on the clip, and when you click the + button the list shows that all the takes are <deleted>. Could it be that because the list shows that all takes on a clip have been deleted it doesn't archive the audio for that clip?

Maybe if T actually kept a record of the take that was kept (ie say take 4) and showed that in the drop down list things would archive correclty.

I've done what you said Mr.Tingle, but my files
are safely archived with the session.
Maybe this is a platform dependant issue?

OK I've done a few tests and I've found the reason that this is not happening for most people.

The edits that are not archiving properly all have looped clips that have a list of:
1.<deleted>
2.<deleted>
3.<deleted>
4.<deleted>
5.<deleted>

when I press the + button on the clip.

For some reason I have loads of edits that were made using T2.0.?.? that have created edits with looped audio clips that have lots of <deleted> parts. When these are archived again the parts are lost.

So, if you are going to test this bug do it with an edit that was made with an old version of T that has looped audio with the <deleted> list of takes. For some reason I can't seem to make the current version of T make these edits.

It's definately a bug with looped edits that have deleted parts.

I had a similar problem with an archive. What I did to fix it was figure out which clips belong to which file. Then I deleted each clip and re-imported the clip from the file. This seemed to fix the problem. I believe the archive was from an earlier version of T2. I agree this sucks and should be foolproof.

Simply download, unpack, load into Tracktion, have a look! now archive the edit to another place on your hard drive and then load the newly created archive and see if it is the same.

If a few people could have a go it would be great.

Just had the same problem. Packed an archive (lossless) of a recording just made with the new version. I opened in on another computer and all the vocals with different takes came up as "file missing" and with all the takes saying "delete." This is a bad one. Any progress?
