Imagine spliting an audio source into two separate pathwatys with one path having a few seconds delay. That would allow you to play short audio clips and quickly AB the results. I was thinking of this as a way to hear the subtle differences between hardware impulse responses in SIR.
Another method: Use two paths with a switch (and no delays) allowing you to listen to extended clips swithching back and forth in order to AB.
