:help: :help:  :?:

I was crusing along just fine, using Receptor for live performance, and had
my 3 or 4 multis set up depending on the gig, that allowed me to switch instruments by switching midi channels. Each of those multis has one channel that contains a large sample library in Kompakt (usually Scarbee).
None of them will load now. The machine crashes and reboots. I believe this started happening right around adding 1.4 and Kontakt II. Not sure if either of these is the culprit. Kontakt II is crashing alot as well when I try to load alot of stuff in RAM. I think that maybe 1.4 doesn't handle large instruments as well as 1.3. It is behaving like there is less RAM than there actually is.
Has anyone else had these problems since updating to 1.4, or since adding Kontakt II? These are multis that used to load with no problem - absolutely nothing different about them, and they are also my main use for Receptor. THe machine behaves just peachy with non-sample based VSTi's - will handle everything I throw at it.
I just got it back from Muse, getting a hardware repair done, and asked them to look at this, but I must not have explained the problem well, because they said the unit was fine. I got it back yesterday and the problem persists.
I opened a new Support ticket last night, but since it is the weekend, I figured I'd post here and try to get some advice - or see if anyone else is having similar issues.
And if it is 1.4....I'm hoping 1.5 will fix it, or that there is some way of going back to 1.3.

Am I right in guessing that you are utilizing Kompakt and Kontakt 2 in the same multi?!? (You'd be using two DFD buffers, perhaps?)

Anything that had issues when loading in Kompakt (which is largely a cut-down version of Kontakt 1) loads much better, and with more polyphony, in Kontakt 2.

See our other Kontakt 2 post about oddball multi behavior. I'd almost recommend going from multi to BLANK multi to multi, based on our experiences.

Any other plug-ins you're typically running?

I've been doing the multi to blank to multi thing for a long time too.
Since version 1.2 - when I got the machine. Typically I use exactly 1 multi per gig, but at home I generally remember to lad the blank in between. This is different. Now I cannot load the multis I used to gig with regularly. At all. The thing is, it seems like I can generally load the plugs individually. This afternoon I loaded a blank multi, put Kompakt with a 16 bit lite version of Scarbee Rhodes, and Scarbee VKFX on track one. (DFD off). No sweat. Added B4 on track 2. No sweat. Played for a while. No problem. RAM usage under 50%, CPU peaking around 50-60% while playing.
Saved it as a multi. Loaded a blank multi. Shut the machine down. Rebooted to the blank multi. Tried to load the multi I had just saved. Crash. Happens with Kontakt vs. Kompakt as well. It's just that all my old gig multis were created before purchasing Kontakt.

Can you please explain the multi to Blank multi to multi for me? I'm having some odd experiences loading different multis. I'm to to post that in another topic right now....

If you are switching between multis that use alot of sample memory, it seems like you have better luck loading a blank multi in between them.

It's not helping my current problem, however. Sigh....

I had several Receptor crashes last night while trying to load a multi consisting of 3 instances of Kontakt 2 loaded with EWQLSO Gold and other stuff. I resorted to the 'load blank, load multi' routine and it seemed to help. I'm also now in the habit of loading a blank multi before I shut down - sometimes Receptor seems to hang when loading K2 at startup. I have 1.5 installed to test Uniwire.
