I`m thinking of buying the Digi 002 Rack from digidesign because I`m going to do some jobs in Prootools, but at the same time I want to keep using T2 as my main DAW.
Can I use Digi 002 as a normal midi/audio interface with T2? In other words, are they going to be friends?

Im pretty sure that if you are running ProTools and Digi002 you will be fine, but the second you run Tracktion, the Digi will tear through your case and start shattering your motherboard via a retractable arm...

protools hardware used to have drivers that other software could use... check the 002 specs and see if there is an asio driver.

Being capable to work at 96 khz is one of the reasons I want to change interface. So Digi002 is not the right choice.
Maybe one of the M-Audio/Protools M-Powered solutions will do. I`ll take a closer look.

look into going with one of the mackie interfaces.
tracktion is way better than pro tools. besides, can't you export each track to a broadcast wav?
if that's true, then just get a nice multitrack (8 channels at least) interface and then go buy a cheap little mbox for your pro tools stuff.
you're going to go broke trying to buy rtas plugins. i defected to tracktion from pro tools. it's just not the thing anymore. it's all about the name. haha! while pro tools may be the "industry standard"... i'd rather go with an "idustry leading" software.
but if you must use pro tools, i think you can exprt each track at a time and then import them into the pro tools session.
youd have to have two interfaces then though. unless you can get an m-audio interface that will allow you to use both. but the m-powered pro tools is even worse than the regular old LE software i've heard.. can anyone confirm this?
i really don't care though. i have the best software around in tracktion.

I own an 002R and have had no problem using Tracktion on it. One reasons I got Pro Tools is to make it easier to bring sessions into larger studios for mixing. While being able to export to broadcast waves from Tracktion does make it easy, it still is easier just to bring in a disc with the Pro Tools session on it. I'm not going to get into an argument about what program is better, though. Each program is a tool and has it's ups and downs. I use them both.

If you don't have to use Protools and you can put up with MLAN (not bad on PC pretty awful CPU drain on Mac OSX), the Yamaha i88x is a fantastic deal. With about the same input/output package as Digi's 002 Rack, the I88x comes in at a mere $400. The firewire interface has MIDI in and out (can't remember if it is 1 or 2 ports), 8 analog ins and outs (only 2 pre's but they are outstanding) ADAT in and out and spdif in and out.

BTW, back to the topic if the Digi 002, don't quote me on its inability to do 96k in ASIO, it's just not listed in the specs above. Its absence in the specs makes me doubt it can do it, but you might want to double-check that.

Thx folks. I´ll keep investigating. By the way, I never worked at 96 or 192 Khz before, does it really make an audible difference than 44.1?
