On a serious note, I found amplitube disturbingly disgusting. NI Guitar Rig 2 feels and ounds how I want it to. Having to wait this long for an update really has put a bit of pressure on IK, it better not suck

Why don't they just give up? Nothing will ever beat my practice amp for sheer sonicality.

I have played some Marhalls, Fender, Bogner, Mesa and know tubes, warm, crisp, bright when need be, yummmm, anyway, I find GR2 to not be that good, in fact, (please be kind) I think guitarport ($99) sounds better than guitar rig, of course, your stuck with whatever you record but hey, that's the same way it would be if tracking a real guitar!
So A2 out this month heh?
hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

.. well, thats a bit exaggerated. but i think 100000 pages are possible ..robojam wrote:Who thinks we'll get to 200000 pages before it's released?
oki, and now on a serious note:
tonight tobi and me just recorded a new idea, and as i knew that he prefers AT1 to GR2 i gave him a AT1 sound to play the guitar with. i concentrated on tweaking it, and really have to say that i now really prefer AT1 over Gr2 again ..
so, i for one wait till GR3 can beat AT1 ..
GR2 is great for bass sound though, and for weird fx-sounds.
but then again the IK-Ampeg plugin will beat GR2 in terms of bass, when it will be released in 2010. (then again, maybe GR4 will have even better bass abilities so it could smash IK-Ampeg 2 (2008) easily .. puhhhh ..

TonePort UX1 is around the same cost as GuitarPort now, and if you use a DI box into the mic input, you can record a dry track at the same time. Not as elegant as if Line6 would just allow the Gearbox software to do it without extra cables/gadgets, but at least it's an option! And then you can re-amp. Yay, re-amp!
Or, with the GuitarPort and another Soundcard, you could accomplish the same thing.

I really dunno what the re-amping fuzz is all about.
I mean, all the "celebrity" guitar sounds people are constantly talking about when it comes to what an amp sim should deliver are recorded the good old fashioned way by firing up an amp, micing it properly and recording it. Sure, you may occasionally run the recorded signal through something else again, but usually no clean signal was recorded at all.
OK, for the sake of flexibility, yes, re-amping might be a nice thing to have, but IMO it'd still be a great idea to get the sound done properly in the first place.
Oh, hold on, amp software companies could just come up with something along the lines of "Hey, record your dry signal and wait for our next update which will finally enable you to do a proper mix".
I never felt the need to re-amp a properly recorded Marshall...

I like re-amping because I do most of my own recording at home, and usually end up doing it at night while my family and neighbors are asleep.Sascha Franck wrote:I really dunno what the re-amping fuzz is all about.

With re-amping I can record and edit the track(s)the way I want them with as many takes as I may want or need with headphones, and then record through the amp once per track rather than do multiple takes at volume.
Also, should the original tone for some reason not work in the mix, you can change it later.
Some would call that too much flexibility to get work done , and in the wrong hands it could be!

Sometimes options can be terrible things.
Even more terrible though, is the thought of being without some of those options after we have been spoiled by them in the first place.
*sigh*
...life is never simple.

They certainly are that, to be sure. I visit this fine chap at the local abattoir and pick them up for my German Shorthair Pointer...this after someone told me that dogs quite fancy chewing on them.
And right he was on that count.
