...and I'll keep not liking them one bit. 'Obsolete' is the word that springs to mind. 'Outdated' popping in close second.Kriminal wrote:well, i'll just have to crawl back into my 'if it sounds good, it is good' hole and STFU i guess.
I'll check these compressors out for sure. I just don't expect to be blown out of chair.

Well, if you are expecting a compressor to blow you out of the water, i think you may be looking at music from the wrong angle.Kingston wrote:...and I'll keep not liking them one bit. Let's leave TDM to fight UAD... No need to compare to native. Native is way more precise and pristine. There's such thing as 'softer' sound. DSPs do not usually offer softer sounds from what I know.
Anyway, let's leave that 'war'. I'm curious to know how mix bus compressor compares to Marquis T3 (all program dependecy params have to be set to 0.28 there, for original SSL timing constants to take effect).

Well, I wouldn't say 'wrong angle'. A different one maybe. My paradigm isn't yours.Kriminal wrote:Well, if you are expecting a compressor to blow you out of the water, i think you may be looking at music from the wrong angle.
But like I said, certainly not with any SSL-like sound, not even hardware. A real LA-2A would be another thing entirely.

Sorry I really wasn't going to war about anything here. It was just a verifiable observation.Aleksey Vaneev wrote:Let's leave TDM to fight UAD... No need to compare to native. As you point out, native *should* be better. God only knows what waves is doing wrong.
(and again, maybe not with these new plugins?)

I would love to hear those files. I have heard these things about the TDM versions being better but I do not have a TDM system so I have not been able to compare.Kingston wrote:I'm sorry but it's not bullshit, me and bmanic did some tests and he has the audio available.
I'll ask him to put them online, as the difference can be easily heard. (RTAS vs. TDM) I don't want to start a debate as I full well know what the truth is and can prove it.
Please, if you find some free space, upload the files. I would appreciate it alot.
Best Regards

bmanic, since you're listening. help these people out when you find the time, you've got the files still.
and start a new thread titled "waves TDM vs. Native wankery" (I'm now sorry for ever mentioning the fact. These things tend to escalate and heat up around here.
)
