where are the gated, reverse reverbs in our virtual world ?

I already pointed once to the fact that these types of non-linear reverbs aren't common as sorfware as much as i can see
- that Masterverb version 5 seems to have this fonction ( didn't demo it yet )
- the most IR reverbs offers the possibility to reverse an I.R sample
BUT, in fact, is there many reverbs of our virtual arsenal that can do the work internally in the same manner the hardware unit does ?

Some of the Reaktor verbs can do this. Ultimate Reverb from the UL comes to mind - reverse reverb tails up to something like 40 seconds.

- do they use of some vst specs like beeing tempo-based,...does it exist ?dystonia_ek wrote:Some of the Reaktor verbs can do this. .

artsacoustic reverb can do gated reverbs ... just use the spread parameter. reverse like reverbs you can do with the attack parameter ...

Use any reverb and use Backman (read about the "backman sandwich trick") here
If the verb is on a send, you could use any noise gate for the... you know...gating.

Yes that's "reverb and gate" but as you may know, technically different than "gate reverb"
nevertheless i'm going to have a sandwich (as suggested...)
____
and by my side always forget to precise i'm mac based...but thanks, mate !

You can do gated reveb in SIR.
Just load an IR and adjust length and env.
If you load an IR in your favourite audio editor and reverse it and load the result into SIR, you have your reverse reverb as well.
A bit convoluted (no pun intended) admittedly but it works.

the only "good" sounding reverse algo I`ve found in VST area is included with Anwida Spazio.
This really does sound very nice!!! Try the demo. Its worth it...
convolution reverse sounds terrible to my ears.. never fits a mix...
others that do that trick are the powercore tools non-lin2.
But both of these two are limit too a max. of 1 sec I think.
So lets wait and see when CSR is available. It also includes a reverse reverb, and I am sure that it is high-quality.

Just place the gate before the reverb on the send chain...do I miss something?Yes that's "reverb and gate" but as you may know, technically different than "gate reverb"
The effect I see you're asking for is a gated verb that will sound only on the higher transients of the source signal...such as a Dub style where the higher snare shot triggers the verb...right?

Sorry no, not at all, but this is my mistake, what i was reffering by "gate reverb" is, as example) a special preset of the Yamaha SPX90** multi-effect unit that is, in fact, a kind of early reflection algorithm ( hall. random, reverse, plate )Spyro wrote:Just place the gate before the reverb on the send chain...do I miss something?Yes that's "reverb and gate" but as you may know, technically different than "gate reverb"

"reverb and gate"only really made sense litterally in the case, my bad !
_____________
Did you knew that stuff ?, i remember in summer 1985 when i saw it the first time, we were all amazed by the fact it costed "only" 1000 swiss francs !!!!... the first of a relatively low cost effect unit of it generation.

You beat me to it.steffe wrote: Or Logic EnVerb to name a free one

Note the "original signal delay" fader and the "predelay" knob, so you can do both pre signal reverse reverbs* and post signal reverse reverbs*. Set the attack to zero (other than in the picture), the release to zero, and "original signal delay" and "predelay" also to zero to get a perfect gated reverb.
*To prevent an idle discussion about what a real reverse reverb or backwards reverb is: This refers to so called reverse reverbs as produced on old hardware reverb units.
