Tempo Change not working

I've been trying to change the tempo of a piece halfway through, in the latest update of T2. I do everything by the manual, the tempo change shows on the top tempo barline, the grid is squeezed where I've made the change - all as it's supposed to be. But when I play the track, there's no change. Furthermore, there's no sign of change in the clip itself, and the overall time of the clip remains at two minutes 14 secs. I swear I've read the manuals (both of them) over and over again, but no joy. I really want to ramp the tempo upwards over several bars (allright, measures, dear American friends), but I can't even get a very obvious tempo change to play, eg going from 120bpm to 240bpm.
Can anyone help?

Duh!

Thanks, mate. It would be nice if that was in the manual! After using Sonar and Acid I didn't think T would be any different. Learn summat every day.

Well, the way to do it is this:
First enter the tempo change where you want it.
Then you play (and record) your audio clip, while following the metronome click.
Now the audio will follow the tempo change.
