Hey GaryG,
Excellent stuff. Works perfectly on my dismal excuse for a projects directory. I wonder if something could be done to produce a list of just the edits and when they were last updated. I tend to work on several edits and projects at the same time and jump around as the moods suits me. Doesn't everybody? It would certainly help me in the midst of inspiration as I tend to forget what I called edits and project directories and waste valueable time trying to find that piece of genius I was working on at 4am the other night.
And what would be a real winner is if the edit file could be parsed for the edit name from the property section and possibility other tidbits like exports/renders. The thing would end up like a work log by date and time. Not much to ask?????
Cheers from an Irish Tracktioneer.

It works Gary!! Thanks.

Question, if I choose "breakdown by track" is it supposed to list each track and its plug-ins? Because I just got a list of all the plug's, but not per-track.

Yes, the latest version works just fine! Thank you!

Glad it's finally working for people out there. As I said originally, it was something I knocked up quickly for personal use (new laptop, needed to know what plugs I needed to re-install), the fact that it's useful to others is ... pleasing. :)

@The_Upstart

bloody hell, that's a lot to take in... :) In theory it's totally possible, the basic processing to pull info out of an edit seems to be working so expanding it for other data types should be pretty easy. If you really want this then maybe you could send me a mock up (just a text file) of how you'd envision the final report to look. I like the idea of a more general purpose report...

Two things I still need to 'fix': Folder processing deeper than one level and a neater way of presenting the report. Once I'm happy with these then, yeah, send me your suggestions.

@AD80

Yep, exactly as you stated. You're getting just the final summmary? Very strange... Sorry to insult your intelligence but you've definitely got the latest version? I can get a debug version to you if need be...

The first set of numbers will be how many instances of each plug are found in each edit, the second is the grand total of all the edits found in the search path.

eg.

d:\tracktion\bangin_toon.trkedit
--------------------------------

volume (native) 5
level (native) 5
steam 1
dub delay 2

d:\tracktion\tarnce_nation.trkedit
----------------------------------

volume (native) 6
level (native) 6
dub delay 2
wusik station 3

plug summary
============

volume (native) 11
level (native) 11
steam 1
dub delay 4
wusik station 3

if your results are from just one edit then somethings amiss as they should obviously be identical. You can send me the test file if you want and i'll have a peek...

Sorry for the overload Gary. I was thinking that two versions of the same type of report would be better. One for the work log and the other for the render log. See examples below.

Work Log
Location Name Edit Last Modified Comment
E:\Tracktion Projects\Song1 "Example Name" edit_050206_191608.trkedit 14/02/06 18:15 "Initial edit for this project. Needs work on the bassline."
E:\Tracktion Projects\Song2 "Example Name" edit_050206_202215.trkedit 14/02/06 20:38 "Initial edit for this project. Needs work on the guitar."

Render Log
Location Project File Exported
E:\Tracktion Projects\Mastered Song 1 Example Name.wav 14/02/06 18:45
E:\Tracktion Projects\Mastered Song 1 Example Name.mp3 14/02/06 18:48

I would certainly find it useful for tracking my work progress. Please have a go if you would find useful also or if somebody else might. Sorry the header fields are out of whack but they should line up with the relevant detail records below them. They were tab delimited in my mock up.
Cheers R

Looks useful R, I'll have a play (can't guarantee a quick turnaround... busy,busy,busy... :))

Got it. Thanks a lot G! For some reason I thought "breakdown by track" meant per track within a song. Like
Song: blah blah
track 1 - etc etc etc
track 2 - etc etc etc
track 3 - etc etc etc
track 4 - etc etc etc

My mistake.

Glad it's working AD80. I think I'm guilty of muddling the terminology a bit, saying track instead of edit in a few places. I'll tidy things up to hopefully make the report less confusing.
