If that is true, then IKMM is simply the biggest joke of the year, period. Why expect a great plug from these clowns? And in the first place, why expect a great plug when the demos are so shitty sounding... I'm telling you, we're all going to be disappointed... except for this great thread!A3ntar wrote:News!
I just got an e-mail from a IKMM rep. The availability date is now "Mid March".
Well, that was un-expected! :-/

Good things come to those that wait? It's coming. Obviously it took a lot longer than expected. But, once it is here the past is behind us and an exciting foundation for future development will be possible. That's something I am excited about. Things like Ampeg SVX for example. Plus a few other things I cannot mention (not yet anyway).
I do have some riffs being cut up from a guitar riff library SR is doing. I sampled some Strats, Teles and Les Pauls (including a Jimmy Page model). On the library there is often a clean track and then an amped or fx track (hardware, not software processed... and that's because you can BUY the software to do your own! But, the user may or may not have their own AC30 or vintage pedals).
Anyway, once the riffs are cut up into 2-4 bar loops I will run some through AT2 for you to hear. A little on the classic rock side as opposed to your high gain metal. But, that's what I happen to be into myself. I'll see if there is something harder edged in there to run through the Mesa. Although I was thinking of showing the vintage Supro, AC30, Marshall and Fender sound... some of my particular faves. That and some of those awesome stomp boxes.
I will try to have something to play before the end of next week. We're slammed from this group buy we did on multitrack drum loops. So, it is a little hectic at the moment. Also CSR ships Monday. However, I want to do this and not so anyone in this thread will say "ohhhhhh, it is PROVEN that it is great now!!!!
". But, more just to show it sounding good from a certain perspective and taste as well as to satisfy those that are genuinely interested in it and curious.
I don't, however, know if I want to get wrapped up into debates about it vs. other stuff anymore though. Unlike some of you who have kept this thread going I have become sort of bored with it (sorry, I haven't kept up). Regardless of whatever else there is out there, AT2 is going to be a great thing to have IMO. Even if you like other software for guitar processing as well. That's just what I think. Each person has to make up there own mind about it in their own time I fully realize.

Hi Guys,
I have been in touch with IK Multimedia on several occasions. I've asked about the StompIO price and received a reply that stated "the StompIO will be packaged with AT2 and will have a street price of $700.00". I emailed back and asked how much the StompIO would be without the software (I am getting the free upgrade to AT2)and was told that IK Multimedia is not sure that it would be sold on its own. I have been wating on this software like you guys, and basically find this news to be terrible. Maybe Squids can shed some light on this?

Because I saw on IK`s website that they`re going to release it
on February.(http://www.ikmultimedia.com/NewsDisplay.php?Id=477)
Or maybe the developers took a vacation
Maybe I should go with Guitar Rig. Or maybe buy a second hand POD2.
I really waited enough...

I have to say I'm more and more convinced that it's a smart move on my behalf that I decided against upgrading. When it was first announced I was very excited; I like AT1. Then came the first delays, making CM look a bit like chumps, then the news that IK has moved to dongle based copy protection. When I was able to aquire GR1 blown out GC for 150 bucks, which got me a free upgrade to the GR2 software, I pretty got over the "excitement" of AT2 pretty quickly.
Now Somewhat Retired

LOL...I DON'T KNOW! I believe I've heard the software is supposed to be priced at $399.00? If this is true, and they do sell the StompIO seperate, that would place it at a price point of roughly $300.00? That is a bit extreme...

I have GR2 and feel that some of the more off the wall sounds are cool, although it does seem to be a CPU hog. I much prefer the sounds of AT1, especially with the extra 250 presets (I really enjoy the Dokken presets). With all the waiting, and the "outrageous" price, I feel that I should be looking at the PODXT or the Boss GT-8 for sounds. I am not sure what route to take?

Or, if it's not for Live gigging but rather for studio use (it's not rugged enough for gigs, I wouldn't say), the TonePortUX2. By the time you've paid for the PowerPack to bring it up to the PODxt status, though, the cost is the same as the PODxt, so the benefit isn't price so much as input options, and vocal/bass options.

For $700 you can buy a real amplifier!!!
Get yourself a (Line 6) Flextone 3. You can record direct AND play live through real speakers in one package. I guarantee you the amp models sound better also.
They must be INSANE if they think anyone is going to pay $700 for a fizzy sounding Amp sim with a limited usefulness foot pedal!!
Yikes!

Well, 499 € for GR2 including RK2 isn't all *that* much cheaper either...
