Does anybody know what happened to LadyJ? Last I purchased some AT1 presets from her which were really good. She was going to start a website called toneheaded that offered presets for AT1, but i don't believe that it became a reality?

Post

.. wait a minute: AT2 will be 700$ ? .. if so: :nutter:, and nothing else.
and if so i´d hate to have contributed so much nonsense to this everlasting 400+-pages thread.

if it would be 400 without the controler i´d maybe go for it. but if they dont sell it without the controler
they seem to miss a point:
there are people like me (and i am a professional) who´re not guitarists, but producers and composers
using the guitar in their production process without feeling the need to have a foot-thingie. i mean, why should i for one need that?
i sit there, pick a preset, tweak it, start playing and recording and and thats it.

squids, i would really like to have a word on that .. ;)

But they already announced the price without the StompIO. I'm prettycertain there will be a package with and without.
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

It's already on available on preorder at a few sites in the US for $240 to $320 for just the plug (full) and $170 for the upgrade. Just search around and you'll see it. On a side note at least one site says "shipping mid-march". Damn, here we go again....

Hey Putte, me think you got it wrong:

- AT2 software only will be sold for $399 first (introductory price), then $499

- AT2 with StompIO could be sold for $699

As you said, if you're not a guitar player, you don't need the foot controller. But if you're one, even if you only play at home, you NEED one to change presets. For this price, I would never buy a software sim. That's just crazy! :-o You can get a real amp for this price! Which you can still re-sell after years of use. After a year, your soft stuff looses already so much value... and then you need to pay again to upgrade... and I'm not talking about bugs, etc... :?

In case you play in a band, you either need a real amp anyway or better, a pair of (full range) PA speakers - and this also costs $$$... :(

I WAS really interested in amp sims, but I begin to realize they are only useful in a plug-in environment, in a (home) studio, like what Putte is doing. I was dreaming of using this stuff live...

Time to look again at some real amps!!! Anybody heard about the new Randall amp? The MTS serie? Looks like a cool concept... must try it sometime! :D

Yeah, I don't trust this company anymore. To ME, like it or not, they act like clowns. And they actually start to make me laugh! :hihi:

Just imagine if the software is buggy (and it always is at release time): "Patches and bug fixes shipping December 2006" !

It looks like Steve is using VHT amps and boatloads of rack gear.

I remember him using one of those Purple Soldano preamps (model escapes me offhand)back in the day. Amazing player!!
Thanks for the link. I read somewhere the VHT stuff is only for clean sounds, but the mistery is what is he now using for hi-gain? Didn't see any Soldano gear in his current setup, but lots of ACE stuff, Audio Custom Electronics. Wonder if this sound comes from one of their pre-amp?

the topic is still valid. why kill it?

The only valid reason I can see, is to show people how incompetent a company may be and still get people to buy their products! Real sad!

I think that's the case. I once played through one of them, brilliant amps!
There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can do maths and those who can't.

putte...you have AT1 so you'll be able to get a software only upgrade just like NI does from GR1 to GR2...

I think what's going on is you can get a software only upgrade or a software/hardware upgrade but they won't be offering it without the hardware if you don't already own AT1.

There's no diff here from what NI is doing. Not that I don't agree that selling the hardware and software separately or in a package is a better marketing scheme but I'm not in their marketing department.

And if msrp is $700 I would put the street price closer to $550 maybe even as low as $500...

I'm also guessing that if you have the software upgrade that you'll be able to get the hardware as an upgrade for a street price of $250-$300...maybe even lower...again, I'm just guessing...

I've got the software upgrade coming free and I doubt I'll buy the hardware. It would be handy but I rarely play live and if I do, I always play with a bunch of gear heads who can supply me with any kind of set up I need ;-)

That's the best gear...stuff somebody else paid for
Play what you feel and feel what you play.

One thing IKMM could do to make up for their bad marketing and nutty release announcements is to release a demo before the product ships. NI did that for GR2 if I remember correctly, and it was great idea. So if you like the product, you can have it as soon as it is available.

Yeah, I'm one of those people who don't buy an amp sim before trying it first. You wouldn't buy a real amp you've never heard before just because some guy told you it's great, would you?
