Hello,
I'm nearing completion of my new composition, http://chinmay.f2o.org/songs/MistOverMuckrossLake.mp3
and there seems to be certain places where clipping is evident. In Tracktion, the edit sounds loud and crisp, but when I export it to a wav, it can hardly be heard. I usually use a wave editing program (like Goldwave) to boost the volume and this is where the clipping happens. I tried tinkering with compressors and EQ, but to no avail (I'm not sure what I'm doing either). Is there a way to fix this clipping problem? Also, how come the edit sounds louder (different?) in Tracktion than in the export?
Thanks for your help,
Chinmay

thats a verry nice peace of music
you can try checking normalise on the export options, or just make shure the master VU's show a good level before you export
a defrag of my hard drives normally fix's any clicking problems i have
off to wipe tears from eye's

if you use a good limiter like the waves L3 ultramaximizer (but Im sure there are free plugins that will do the same job)you can set a "brickwall" that will stop the audio from clipping , but you can also boost the volume of the signal by quite alot (up to about +8db)before there is any noticable distortion. This is a great way for boosting the overall signal but at the same time preventing clipping.
Also if your noticing little clicks and pops when you trigger a piano vst, try increasing the attack on the amplitude envelope..
really lovely piece of music btw

Thanks for the help (and the lovely comments on the piece). I will definitely try out the proposed solutions. I was just wondering if it is a common problem that the volume in Tracktion seems fine, but when you export, the volume is really low? Or am I just tricking myself due to the way I've set my headphone, etc. volume levels?
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
