I'm not new to recording, but I am new to midi. I downloaded a demo copy of T2 and am attempting to use my Yamaha keyboard's midi function (USB interface). When I play the keyboard using the midi input, there is a fair amount of latency in T2 and I'm not sure how to deal with it. Are there any good reference materials out there on this subject or can anyone offer any hints please? I've played around with the timecode settings and stuff like that, but I really don't know enough about them to fully understand what's going on. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

thanks...

When you record audio in Tracktion the latency isn't there or is less noticeable?

I don't notice any latency when I'm using the analog ports on my soundcard.

I doubt if the latency is due to midi itself - that's reasonably fast and (unless you are daisy-chaining a lot of midi devices) any delay is too small to be noticeable. Your problem is the delay being introduced by whatever you are using to convert the midi data stream to sound - my guess is it's a software synth of some description, some of these are notorious.

Any suggestions for decent synths to get basic keyboard sounds (piano, percussion, etc.)?

Thanks for the reply.
