Which is the best control surface to use with Tracktion 2?

I was wondering because I was thinking of getting the Mackie Control Universal, but because of the price, I would like to see what you all use, and also get your opinions before I commit to something. Thanx in advance for your replies.

I jumped on the Tranzport since support was added in a recent T release. I mainly bought it as a wireless "record button" but it is turning out to be a great general control surface. I even find changing levels with the jog wheel is just as satisfying as a fader. If you are automating level and pan changes and don't need control over more than one at a time I highly recommend it.

I'd recommend to give the Behringer BCR a try (with HuskerVU and the preset for Tracktion). It's really cheap and if it doesn't fit your needs, you can buy a MCU later. But if it works for you as great as for me, then you'll save a lot of money.

I dont have it but i thing its a quite an saleout :
TASCAM US-2400

888 Euros and it got 25 motorized faders, transport, jog/shuttle wheel,
24 encoders control pan and mute/solo buttons for every channel.
It has MCU and HUI emulation.



There would be a bunch of great controllers out there, but because the lack of the bi-directionality of Tracktion (with custom controll surfaces not having MCU emulation - and - something to remember - MCU has 8 channels) they are useless with
Tracktion (bing great with every other host).

That Tascam looks superb!!

I´m in the process to change my current control surface for a new one that has MCU and HUI emulations cause I´m going to need it for T2 and Pro Tools.

In the beginning I was thinking of the Mackie one, but then I noticed That Behtinger BCF2000 was ofering practically the same for a fraction of the price. But now I think this Tascam could be the one. (25 faders with a similar price than the Mackie´s ooohhh).

In the Tascam web site they state literally:

"The US-2400 features 24 touch-sensitive moving channel faders and a touch-sensitive motorized master fader"

When they say "moving channel faders" do they mean that are motorized? If so, what is the diference between the 24 faders and the master one?

I'll also hand in a big vote for the Tranzport. It is just great. I never adjust levels fore more than one channel and the jog wheel is doing a superb job. And it is cheap, just about the price as the BCF2000... And it feels more stirdy than the Behringer, plus you don't have to listen to the automation fader moving.. And you save lots and lots of space. Plus it is movable with the IR. Great great great:)
