remote software is slow?

Hi
I've just got a receptor on trial and so far I'm very impressed.
However, the software to control the receptor is acting extremely slow - taking about 40secs to respond to anything.
Should this be a lot faster than this? I hope so.
I'm on a dual 1.8 G5
OSX 10.4.3
I tried apple talk first and this was very slow as well, so that was when I tried windows networking. Both were to slow to be usable.
Any help would be great.
Cheers
Kim

If you using just one Ethernet cable between your Mac and Receptor, set Receptor to Crossover mode, then restart Receptor. Use Windows Networking instead of AppleTalk.

Hi Dan
Thanks, I connected the receptor directly to the mac and it worked great.
The only problem is, is that I've got a digi d-command and fader pack that connects to the G5 as well through a switch.
Is there a way I can get the remote happening well through the switch?
Thanks
Kim

Remote will work well through a switch, but it is essential that the switch is at least 100baseT. Remote will only work as fast as your pipe between Receptor and your host computer, and there are a lot of computers that have 10baseT cards in them. These will not provide acceptable performance for Remote.
I use a Mac iBookG4 with 100baseT Ethernet connected to a 100baseT Airlink switch, and it works really well. Even performance over my airport is good, not great, but definitely usable.
Hope this helps

If you have a switch and not a router, it means that your switch will not provide DHCP. It is my understanding that the Digi d-command does not use TCP/IP. Then, if all you have connected to the switch are your Mac, the d-command, and Receptor, you should use the Receptor in Crossover mode.
If you have another computers, or if your switch is also connected to a cable or DSL modem, then you should not use Crossover mode.
