Guitar Rig - Anyone Controls It with MIDI CC Successfully?

Dear All,

I've checked the route midi cc to source plug-in function, but my Guitar Rig (inserted into the first column after the "guigar input" source) still doesn't react to any midi cc. I couldn't control it other than using the mouse and clicking on the GUI.

I'm not sure if it is my fault, or there is some design flaw. Is there anyone that CAN control the Guitar Rig with a MIDI controller?

What version of the Receptor software do you have? Go to the SETUP page (or SETUP on the front panel) and you can see the version.

Receptor SW version = 1.4
Using Guitar Rig 2 with Rig Kontrol 2.
I have not been sucessful in powering the Rig Kontrol from any of the USB ports on Receptor. Rig Kontrol works fine on my XP computer USB 2 port.
Any ideas on this?

You need to upgrade to version 1.5. 1.5 is in beta, but it has been very stable. You can ask what other people's experience has been with 1.5, if you are nervous running beta software.

I'm running the 1.5 beta. The MIDI controller I'm using is the Novation Remote 61 keyboards. It's powered by Receptor's USB port. The MIDI signals are still transferred through a standard MIDI cable.

I assigned the bottons on the Remote 61 to different CC, but none could be received by the Guitar Rig. I can play the Kontakt 2 piano with the Remote 61, so I'm very sure that the Receptor itself does receive MIDI signals from the Remote 61.

We have Guitar Rig 2 running now and it is in the trusty hands of software QA. I hope we can get it released at Messe, but I know that there are lots of other plug-ins in the queue.

What we don't have is Rig Kontrol 2 working. Unfortunately, NI has adopted a proprietary USB command protocol (NOT MIDI) to control GR2, so we are going to have to devote some engineering resources at supporting the controller. We are in contact with NI (no pun intended) and have asked for the documentation to Rig Control. As soon as we get it from them we'll be able to get it working.

Make sure "Route MIDI CC's to Source Plugin" is checked in the SETUP page. Use Guitar or line input before Guitar rig. It should work.

Trying to get Guitar Rig 2 to work with iLok and Receptor. Downloaded and installed the utility from Plugorama to help with Guitar Rig install. Runs OK from Receptor, but when I enter the Guitar Rig serial number it tells me it's invalid. My Guitar Rig is registered with Native Instruments and activated without problem. My serial number and authororization key shows as registered on the NI website. NI thinks it has something to do with the Guitar Rig license not being in iLok. If this is the case how do I get it into iLok? If not what could be the problem?

I've done exactly what you described. It's not receiving anything.

Are you connecting the Remote 61 via USB or MIDI? Some USB controllers do not properly adhere to the MIDI protocol over USB, you might want to try sending it info over the 5 pin DIN, it could be the controller that is at fault.

Check this out and let me know if it fixes the problem...

Hi Bryan,

In my previous post I've stated that I used a standard MIDI cable to transfer MIDI signals. The USB cable is only for powering up the Remote 61.

I think I'll take my Receptor to my friend's store later, where he has other MIDI controllers that I can try out.

We have a remote 25 here at Muse, and we use it all the time for controlling Receptor... it works great. There might be a problem with your Remote 61, or more likely in the settings of the Remote 61 in terms of MIDI controller assignment. A trip to your friend's store sounds like a good idea!

Hi,
I have quite the same problem as Arys Chien. I'm using the Receptor with a MIDI Masterkeyboard (Oberheim MC-3000, the Rolls Royce of masterkeyboards...imho). Here is an exact description of what's happening:

I want to be able to change my MULTIS via MIDI, so I set up Receptor to "use bank select". The program change channel is set to "All". In this was, I am able to change my multis.
I also want to be able to control my plugins with CCs, so I checked the "route midi CCs to source plugins".
It doesn't work...
Then, I tried something else: I set Receptor to "ignore bank select and target MULTIS". I am still able to change my MULTIS and... SURPRISE, I can control my plugins with the MIDI CCs WITHOUT THE "ROUTE MIDI CCS TO SOURCE PLUGINS" OPTION CHECKED...

I read and re-read the manual and updates manual to try to figure this out, but I couldn't. This sound very weird to me... and contrary to my logic...

Any suggestion or explanation welcome

Guitar Rig does not publish a parameter list, it will only respond using the Receptor Learn feature.
