Nonsense. Art is craft.
(+1 to what dystonia_ek was writing by the way, spot on.)
art CAN encompass craft (but doesnt have to) ... craft in and of itself is NOT art ...

that Spyro tune is way cool :)

I like experimental music, but in these post modern days it often feels like retro music. If it sounds like Can, or the Beatles on acid, or Miles Davis, Zappa or King Crimson, it must be experimental!

It's just a word, and one that's bound to have many meanings. Just like "psychedelic". Not a genre, but an attitude.

My upcoming CD-R will be neo-post non-folk cyber turbo overdrive hardcore maximalised minimalist nu old skool beyond bop.

aha. in other words: i should cool it with all the words? ;-) if i've overdone it, i apologize; i just get really excited by all this exchanging of ideas and feelings about music. sounds, words: it's all part of the picture to me. :-)

no no no... i like your posts. plus how can you cut to the chase when you're not sure what is what? i mean that in the sense that you're still searching, and have questions in your head. are you kidding me? obviously your posts, for the most part, create discussion/argument and i'm all for it. i want to know the answers just as much as you do. ;) if there was a simple, cut-to-the-chase, answer, we would already know by now, don't you agree? non of us here are buddha, and although quite a lot of people here have posted about this and that, we still don't have one simple answer that we can all agree upon. although, technically, culturally, physically, and emotionally we're different, we're all searching and ever changing. we all have our insecurities, doubts and indecisiveness. how happy is the one that has made up his mind. :)

the simplest of all answers should be just do what your heart tells you to do. we shouldn't even have to ask questions, going deep, contributing to each other's insanity. but again, we're not satisfied with that either, neither you or i, and feel the need to be recognized for what little we can contribute to the society. otherwise, we'd sit at home, make music and not post here and there.

just burn your own tunes on cd, put them in your cd player, get your headphones plus lots of batteries and finally escape to an island where you'll be all alone. we don't like that. :p we're social animals.

vurt, you've been making experimental music over here all day, or didn't you know:

A resynthesized version of your voice haunts the insides of my Kyma system.

Today I used it to play with Kyma's new TAU synthesis algorithm (a sort of resynthesis algorithm that blends frequency, formant and amplitude resynthesis, and then can randomly create entire synths/fx and such from the results).
