.. now let´s get vintage again and have a look at this quote below. it dates back to an earlier stage of topmodern music production .. january 2005:dogod wrote:We're only playin' Squidsy, but if you goddam mention AT2's 20000 combinations 1 more time... I swear ..... LOL
..Squids wrote:For one thing, guess how many amp combinations THIS one has. AT1 had 1,260. Would double that make you happy? How about triple? Still not happy with the options? How about TWENTY THOUSAND amp combinations? AmpliTube has MORE than twenty thousand amp combinations. That's incredible.

to be fair POD xt live has one thing that can bring your workflow to a grinding halt...there is so many good tones and tweakables that instead of recording that lead track I've been saying "I'll get down"...I find myself saying "I wonder how that would sound on that song?" Now I know that this would be a good place for re-amping...but it's so much fun to play....then as a result I get a new inspiration that I have to save for later...so I'm spending a lot of time chasing my tail around POD xt live... it's so much fun, chasing your tail though....I mean 10 million dogs couldn't be wrong
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

Of those 10 million, I wonder how many also eat their own poo. Cause those dogs are SO wrong it's not even funny. I need the statistics updated to reflect that.Hink wrote:...I mean 10 million dogs couldn't be wrong
Anyway, how does a company announce that a software is coming out WAAAAAAY before it's ready? What is the major malfunction there? Why can't they just shut up about it until they're sure it's ready?

Hink,
Are you saying that Line6 has sold roughly 10 million POD's? Also, do you hear any of the "fizz" that some people discuss on the Line6 forum? Some claim to hear it, and some say that there is not any "fizz" to be heard....Kinda like the AT and GR debate...lol.

As discussed earlier in this very thread, "fizz" is present even in real amps. People just don't focus in on it because with a real amp they're not looking for a problem. I've heard many a real recording of a real amp that's fizzy as all hell.
It does depend model to model. I find the Line 6 Zen (based on a Budda) or the Plexi 45 to be pretty "fizzy", but I'm not convinced it's uninentional. The JCM-800 is pretty tight and fizz-free. I mean, some amps (IRL) are just fizzy. When you model such an amp, you should probably get a similar sound.

I don't know... insomnia, a hacking cough, a sea bug up the wizoo? Feel better now and thanks.
Now, about those 20,000 amp combinations...
Actually, it isn't that there are 20,000 that makes it so cool. I can't imagine even ever trying out that many. It is the individual amp component modeling itself that is just fun to play with and a powerful option when mixing. I was just having a lot of fun with it over the weekend using it as a virtual "reamp".
I do repeat myself when I am under stress, I repeat myself when i am under stress, I REPEAT! (name the band).
