Reason 3 is simply awesome.

To me it seems much like saying that the stand-alone version of KORG Legacy Collection is sooooooo much better than the plugin because it never crashes and uses less CPU. In fact I think I'd take the stand-alone Legacy Collection over Reason, it has more of the kind of things I want and way less of the krap I don't need.

Because some people probalby find the options (or limitations) provided by the included samplers to be beneficial to their way of working.Teksonik wrote:Hey I'm a prick! The point is that you CAN'T RECORD AUDIO into Reason without other software. Why not just buy a real Music Production Suite to begin with and stop fuc*ing with work arounds. Why is it that whenever the discussion of Reason comes up I get this strange feeling that some people haven't actually paid for the software and hence don't get the poor value for money that Reason represents. Get some sleep Robocop.
Then again, that sums up why anyone uses anything.

reason sucks, let the thread continue........... hehe jk
Here is my short view of reason:
Pros
- low cpu usage
- good drum machine
- cool sampler
- included samples are nice
- i like matrix
Cons
- horrible sequencer, don't know if I ever seen anything worst, maybe trackers
- outdated synths
- the rack, i don't need no rack on my computer hehe
- small screen resolution, you can separate the rack from sequencer but for this you really should have two monitors
- the automation is just bad (please take a look at logic)
- no audio recording
- very, very, very bad piano roll, can't stand it!
- cost
- fx also outdated
That's the basics. Simply put, reason does not offer much to me at this point

I'd take a redneck who f**ks his sister over a smarmy self righteous tossweasel like you anyday - he can get me drugs and let me boink his cat, and none of that reality crap that I don't need.BONES wrote:To me it seems much like saying that the stand-alone version of KORG Legacy Collection is sooooooo much better than the plugin because it never crashes and uses less CPU. Yeah, the automation is just incredibly shity. Just about every other sequencer on the planet now uses some form of spline based editing. Their whole antiquated MIDI style of automation just plain sucks ass.superddman wrote:Here is my short view of reason:

Yep. I agree. Juno 106's suck ass too, because I mean, they use that old tired method of synthesis and they don't have vector features. Oh, and Beethoven.. boy he sucked, I mean.. who uses a piano .. really... old piece of technology that... shit !!

C'mon you penisheads.. its a program! A TOOL! TOOL! TOOL! It doesn't dictate what comes out of it. I happen to think Orion and Sonar suck donkey cock for the stuff I do, but I'm not starting flame wars over it. Immature felchers

I prefer to use good tools. Makes life easier. On the other hand, you can go ahead and start making music banging on garbage cans if tools dont make a difference to you.Amberience wrote:Yep. I agree. Since you mention it, I have banged on pots and pans to make music. I have used a kazoo, I have used a guitar, I have used a bass, I have used my vocals, I have used samples, I have used field recordings, I have used recordings of farts and burps, I have sampled pornos, movies, other songs, I have tickled my girlfriend to get her to laugh so I could record that, I once teased my dog a little to get him to bark, and recorded that.superddman wrote:I prefer to use good tools. Easier isn't always the best way. There are many precendents to prove that.

Outdated Synths?
dunno, as i've said before I find the filters can be a problem.
I love the maelstrom - constantly finding interesting sounds on that one.
I do agree that the subtractor could maybe do with some updating, or another version with 'phat' filters included.
As it is the combinator allows me to have a default set up whereby subtractors always open up with a scream 4 & an mclass eq to sort the sound out.
I have another setup with some delays & verb etc. hooked up also so that I can quickly audition sounds with those effects included - as imo what often seems to make a patch on many vsti's is the inclusion & use of effects - & for thsoe purposes I find reasons included effects fairly standard & capable.
