Maybe I can donate all the t-shirts to polar bears :P

Like our german teacher said "In Finland it's winter all the time, during the summer it's just a bit milder winter"

Naaah, seriously I love T-shirts :) And this group buy seems to be forming into another esoundz gem. Thanks for that!
A guy with serious GAS and lots of unused VSTs. But if I someday need them...

this thread alone gets more attention than many other actualy group buys I see. I'm looking forward to seeing how this one goes. I've participated in a couple.

Maybe spell out 'Groupbuy' instead of 'GB'? Many might not understand what the abbreviation means, and just *clickety-click* away from it if it fails to make sense for them, never to return again.

Hey,

A big thanks to mlyon, harmony gardens, DotNoir and soulata for getting the word out early to various forums about the upcoming group buy. Since we are on a new page, I want to re-post the updated links to various places that we have spread the word to about the pre-Group Buy.

Project 5 Forum

Cakewalk Forum

Harmony Central - Keys, Synths & Samplers Forum

Sound on Sound Forum

NI's Kontakt Forum

Cubase Forum

Propellerheads User Forum

UAD Forum

OSX Audio Forum

Sanctus Angelis Online - VI Control Forum

An occasional bump over the next several weeks, as more info is released, would probably be helpful.

Thanks, again, mlyon for starting to compile the thread links. :tu:

Hi Squids.

On one of the forums I spread the word to (OSX), someone had a good question about some of the material that could possibly be on the Tron disc. I will re-post his question:
I might be interested in this. What I'd be looking for is really odd sounding stuff. Tape loop sounding and backwards effects like the Beatles would have done. Do you think it has some of that? Also, there are sounds on Sgt Peppers that are barn animals and odd effects. Someone told me that it was a Chamberlain. Do you know if it has those? I like to do Beatles covers with my Church band and I'd love to surpirse them with the authentic Beatles sounds. I like the Melotron flute sound that I use for that. They love it.

Well, it definitely has some quirky tape loop type sounds. Backwards stuff? I like that too. Maybe we'll put some Jon Brionesque Spotless Mind type backwards tape stuff on there too... Beatles noises? All the way baby. I think we had some on Vol. 1 as well. All of those Sgt Peppers animal noises will be there between Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 plus as I said I have some really rare one of a kind sound effects that this guy Sandy from the Chamberlin company had. He just offloaded all of his Chamberlin parts, tapes and prototypes to me. It was a great find. I had to drive to a really scary funky place to get it too in the woods. I risked my life to get these for you guys! Just kidding.

Once again these collections are for people who are looking for something different, something that is about character more than audio hifi quality. It is an odd appreciation but those that know REALLY know and love it. It is one of the rare cases where noise, record pops, hum, wow, flutter, warble, analog distortion are some of the highlights!!!! Although, lofi material actually is very popular in urban and all kinds of music production styles so it really is for anyone. I mean, there are some squirly rhythms that sound like vintage 30's and 40's jazz on here that I know are jems for some hip hop or trip hop producer. But then there's all the progrock Crimson/Yes/Genesis material for that as well. You can really get some authentic sounding 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's sounding music with all of this analog tape stuff (great warmth too). The Optigan material is just groovy baby!

The one thing I'd like to do but I know we can't do it for every sampler is get some of the optigan stuff to trigger mid-beat like it does on a real Optigan. The way I was thinking that could be done is to modulate the sample start time with a BPM sync lfo. This way ensemble loops can drop in and out like on a real Optigan. We'll experiment with that and maybe even open it up to anyone else to try too. I'll throw up on line a few optigan loops for free and anyone can mess around with various samplers to see which samplers can do it. I bet Kontakt can do it. Not sure if EXS and HALion can. SampleTank almost can but we'd have to use our in-house tools to do that under the hood. There might be a way I can trick it to do it. But, don't hold your breath on any of this. These are just ideas to make Vol. 2 the coolest esoteric find!

Man,,, I gotta have this in my collection. :)

Keep hope alive,,,

Think of all the boxes of tapes it would take to ship these sounds when they were made. Think of what a PITA it would be if we got this in tape format,,, LMAO We'll be able to change sounds as easy as clicking a button, instead of spending an afternoon cleaning tape heads, or changing tapes.

I suspect we'll spend less on this group buy full of sounds, than it would cost for one of the many maintainence calls one of these puppies require for owners of the real thing.

Thanks for the info, Squids.

I will let the guy on the other forum know. 8)

When does this Group buy start? Where do I sign up? The link I went to was sample tank only and I want sfz. And well I also want the extra content as well if the GB hit's over 100. But that depends on how many people sign up. I'm from the P5/Instruments forum. Waitng on Rapture to hit Guitar Center. But I'd love to add this to my vintage collection.

Hey lawapa. The link your probably seeing is for the first Squids Tron Collection, which was only Sampletank. (Squids is going translate those at somepoint to SFZ, but we're kind of waiting on that) That set was from a GB last year, and he brought it back by popular demand, so people who missed that GB can still get it.

This is a totally new GB, and it isn't ready yet. Squids hinted about doing it, and most of us here are just droolers who are waiting for it to be ready, and cheering him on. He'll have an official announcement, here, and word will spead out more at that time. It's a good chance to post your hopes and wishes for the set, ask questions, and get the advanced skinny on it, though.
