Delay with plugin in feedback loop?

Hi!
Just wondering why I've never seen something like this:
I'd like to have a delay plugin, which itself could host any VST plugin to be inserted in the feedback loop.
Does this sound like a job for Energy-XT? Any other ideas? What if the plugin in the feedback loop had a high latency (convolution plugins f.e.) ?

I've spoken to developers about this. I think the biggest reason is the uncertainty of hosting (because lots of other plugins are crashy) would not be all that much fun to support.

shamann, where are we at with feedback loop VST's anyways? I realized that Streamboy doesn't do it, and Senderella's pretty sensitive; too sensitive(unless I'm using it wrong).
What do we have that can be used in eXT?

Can feedback lops like this be built in reaktor?
One can do it to a certain extent using reason (but tbh i've never really messed with setting feedbacks up in reason).

Short answer: Yes.diverdee wrote:Can feedback lops like this be built in reaktor?
But they only work from within 1 instance of Reaktor which limits the usefullness, and have sensitivity issues like Senderella, although this could be fine tuned somewhat..

i guess audiomulch comes in handy at times like this. here's to hoping xt2 will feature feedback loops.

I do all my feedback loops in Audiomulch. A module/plugin can't connect to itself, but just connect it to a gain module then back to itself. As loophead says, you can do it with the registered version of Bidule, too. VAZ Modular does it, too, but I don't use plugins too often in it.Sickle wrote:shamann, where are we at with feedback loop VST's anyways?
Last time it was mentioned regarding eXT, Jorgen seemed interested.
I thought Streamboy did do it? I've never liked using Senderella for feedback, something always seemed to go wrong for me when I tried. You could try jaltoh's soundbus. Not sure how it deals with feedback, it's been so long since I've used it. Strikes me it was crashy, too, but it might do the trick now, and has maybe had some bug fixes since.

I tend to use TobyBear's Mixbox and then defer the role to senderella once I run out of channels. Both have always worked fine.

There are massive problems with it. I am mid dev on something that plays with the delay feedback path.
For instance, as soon as you put a filter in there, you are asking for trouble.. you need very strict limits on what the plug is allowed to push out, and beware of the massive overload potential
Other than that.. well.. nothing really

Just adding my voice to the Audiomulch cause...
Source --> Voxengo Sample (or time) Delay ---> SGain (value controls feedback level) ---> VST effect of your choice ---> back to Voxengo...

This is a solution in ExT (Mixer 1 and Mixer 2 are mixers with 2 channels):
Master In -> Mixer 1 input 1/2
Mixer 1 -> Simple delay plugin
Simple delay plugin -> VST effect
VST effect -> Mixer 1 input 2/2
VST effect -> Mixer 2 input 1/2 (wet signal)
Master in -> Mixer 2 input 2/2 (dry signal)
The feedback level is controlled by the level of Mixer 1 channel 2.
I hope, this helped a bit.
