nah nah nah nah jo...back to square one! ;)
You asked me about Logic, so i was talking about logic. Ie I need to mix down cos my computer's too slow ;)
Same with RMIV ;)
------------------------------------

Back in Muton, RMIV doesn't make a sound unless you click on the pads

Post

hey jo: Mixdown with nothing selected but the loop area works fine!
:D like you said

Yeah, i'm feeling better again, thanks.
I've got a few suggestions for the audio lab. I'm not sure if this is the time to bring them up as you must be pretty close to getting Beta 3 out. If you're aiming for the end of the month to get the first release, realistically, how much time do you think you'll get to develop the audio lab?

The most important thing is stability and reliablity, and anything than compromises this will just have to wait.

Cheers,
Paul.
It might indeed be better for my good sleep if you keep new feature requests for after the 1.0 release.

Indeed, reliablity and easiness of the current features are top priority now.

Beta 3 coming one of the days :)

Bonte, i've added your buffer-size request on the whishlist.

Workflow/logic observastion:

When using AudioLab, you can only set the current position bar by clicking on the timebar above the amplitude graph. This is fine - keep this. But to set the 'Start' marker, you must click on the graph, not the timebar. I'd prefer to set position and marks by consistantly clicking on the timebar. At the moment, I think it's a bit inconsistent to click on the timebar to set current position, but click on the audio graph to set the Start (or zero) marker.

Again in AudioLab, I'd really like to be able to grab the 'Start' marker and move it along the time-bar with the mouse. Even though I know I can't move it, I still keep on trying to 'grab' it.

Also - this would be really cool - if you want to start from the 'Start' position (to rewind, in other words), click anywhere to the left of the 'Start' marker and the cursor would jump back and start playing from 'Start' marker.

General suggestion. When I zoom out to get the 'big picture' of a composition, and then zoom back in, the zoom does not zoom into the current position bar. Every click on the zoom tool seems to zoom to the left half of the current view. Can I suggest that the zoom tool centres on the current position first then zooms in centrally?

I've got quite a few thoughts on Audio Lab; I'll post them soon.

:)

Oh yeah, one other thing before I forget.

In the mixer strips, I wanted to insert an effect into a chain, but couldn't find a way of making space so I could get the effect in the right order. Do you think you can add an 'up arrow' to the right of an effect (except the top one, of course :hihi: )

So clicking this 'up arrow' next to the effect would promote it up one level.
So this means if you wanted to put an effect in a particular place, you could just add it and the bottom (where it would normally appear) and just promote it until it was in the right place. Whaddayathink?

Or, even better, I notice that left and right mouse do the same thing with effects. What about right-button offers the choice of effect, while left button allows you to drag the effect up and down in the rack?
I think this is a necessary feature.

Found the problem.

Will be fixed in beta 3 :)

True. Must be improved.

OK, will be there in beta 3.

It should indeed at least center around the center of the window. Will be improved.

...
Whaddayathink?

What about: Right-click = "Insert Empty Slot".

What I meant was the zoom should
1. Center on to the current time position
2. Zoom equally using this as the centre.

I don't fully agree with this.

Imagine you're working on a certain section, while the play position is elsewhere.

Now you zoom in on something you're working with.

That would cause your editor to jump to the play position, which is somewhere else.

I think that "go to play position" and "zoom in/out" should be 2 independent things.

What do you think?

Post

Yes, you're right! :dog:
The zoom should focus on the position you're editing. The current song position is not relevent.

You should be able to zoom out of your edit, then zoom in and return to the exact spot you left :)

Fairly minor observation:
In the main composition window, the cursor to move the track name/number boundary border is a hand. Maybe change it to the more tradition I-beam cursor (][ or 'I')?

Also, when you name tracks (e.g. drums, bass, keyboard, etc) you will want to see the track names. So when you resize the track name/number area, the font resizes, which is a good idea. But the speaker/mute symbol also resizes, down to quite a tiny size. The speaker/mute symbol doesn't really need to resize, does it? It makes it a bit more difficult to click to mute/unmute tracks. Perhaps keep the icon a regular size?

hmm im not sure if this is what youre looking for, but i wish for every audio track you imported, a new mixer channel would pop up.

i also would like to be able to collapse the tracks so more can fit in the window.

how about grouping faders?

god im terrible at beta testing lol! but ive got a cool little loop goin in it now! must say im impressed already. doesnt seem like a cut down version really.

if i repeat something thats already been said, plese just ignore it...

overall great work jo.

edit: doh! i just looked at the manual. one mixer channel for audio tracks. not bad i guess for free... i can imagine doing a lot with just this.
