Looks good, but the white text on the light brown is really hard to read.ezeeboogie wrote:![]()

No idea if it would make any difference, but version 6 had two patches released bringing it up to 6.02 http://www.jasc.com/support/updates/default.asp you can get them there if that would be any good.Fuzzpilz wrote:Supporting alpha magic wouldn't be too simple, I'm afraid - my GUI code is all plain GDI, and I'm not sure I trust that to be fast enough. I may look into it, though. Unfortunately I'm still using PSP 6 (which annoyingly can't save PNGs with full alpha channels) for all my image manipulation needs, so I'd be grateful if you'd send me something to test it with.

Great synth, huuuuuuuuge options but no CPU hit at all.
Will skin, though I find the original nice.

Blimey, That was just the first pre draft alpha version and I'm getting useability complaints!nitex wrote:Looks good, but the white text on the light brown is really hard to read.ezeeboogie wrote:![]()
I disagree that it's "really hard" to read. They aren't the most high contrst of colours admittedly but it's certainly legible enough for me. It's the same combination of colours as the nord uses and I think changing it kind of defeats the purpose of this skin! It's meant to resemble a Nord first and foremost, everything else is fairly unimportant.
So, whilst I take your comment on board I'm still going to be using the original scheme! Maybe you'll like one of the other ones I have coming up!
Craig.

Thanks for the responses so far!
Next up Oatmeal "nord" skin...
*tease*
Dare I do a Virus skin... hmm...
EXCELLENT!!!...I happen to actually like the original skin, but so far, this looks like one I'd change to. Just as a suggested, if each section had a differnt color as follows, it would make things alot easier:
Oscilliator Section
Filter Section
Distortion Section
Modifier Section (Delay, Chorus and Reverb)
Modulation Section (Mod Envelopes 1&2, LFO's 1&2, and the XY Pad)
Arp Section
Tuning and EQ
Global Section
Something along those lines....but it looks like the best so far, in my opinion.

Thanks for the comments but as I said before this will be a Nord style skin so your ideas although good don't fit my original brief. I will be doing more skins though so I will bear your comments (and nitex's) in mind for future skins.Debutante wrote:EXCELLENT!!!...I happen to actually like the original skin, but so far, this looks like one I'd change to. With a randomizer like this, I could imagine there will be endless patches floating around in a matter of days.

As I play more and more with Oatmeal, I find that it has more and more to offer than I originally thought
And I'm glad to hear it may be more skinnable in the future, too! Although I find the layout here extremely logical... well, I like things that are pretty and shiny and flashy and big
May I report what seems to be a bug, or perhaps is just an oddity I'm not familiar with? The note preference, under Monophonic mode, is really strange to me - what I'm used to is "Last Note Played" mode, but this seemed at first to me to be "Lowest Note Played" mode. Then I realized it seems to be cycling through note preferences every time you press and release a note - not in the order that they're played (unless played from low to high), but in some cyclical order.
Is there some reason it's this way, and is it possible to implement "last played" note preference? Obviously if it's fine for you as it is now then, hey, you're the developer
but I thought I'd mention it, since I find most (freeware) developers like to get feedback and (feasible) suggestions.

Is this randomizer different every time you load it up and press random for the first time? Cause thats a randomizer I trust! Some randomizers always give you the same sounds because there is no variable to change the initial setup. I remember when i tried fruityloops (long time ago) the random would always give me the same series of random setups on the synths when I loaded everything up.
Do not lick the fablanky
