since when did anyone think Orion looked good?
never obviously ... hence the need to be irritated when other peope DO have good looking tools (besides which ... in orions case its just as well attractive GUIs and sound quality ARENT linked eh ??? ) ...
being jealous of talent is one thing, but being jealous of a GUI is prob the saddest thing ive ever heard of. I think im the only user who actually uses the dafault skin, cos its clean and practical, and reminds me of the hardware i used to use (im kinda old compared to most users). You are right tho, if the GUI's of Orion matched their sound quality, i would prob have switched to eXT or Cubarse by now, but luckily, they dont, and im not so shallow and pathetic to think that something that looks, good sounds good (anyone tried Prophet V?)

nite now, y'all take care.
You think you sound good, so it kinda goes without saying you don't relate looks in that manner. Goodnight. :)

You're projecting here I think, nobody's said anything of the sort. Most of the comments have been enthusiastic about the sound (subjective opinions, don't sweat it) but critical of the gui. Now better guis are showing up and people are happy! What's the problem?

.g
not really, most ppl seem more concerned about the GUI than the sound, and even tho the complaints have been about the size, new GUI's seem to make ppl think it looks better, even tho you still can read shit..i never said it was crap (seriously) just that it wasnt special (as the dev said in the original poat)

it just amazes me that the look of somthing can convince ppl about how it sounds, or how potentially good a synth is, very odd indeed.

i shunned Crystal for two years because it was so ugly.
it was only in 2004 when it got it's light grey front that I got into it more.
Same with Crossfade loopsynth if the pay version had the same non-GUI as the freeware I'd have bought it ages ago.

i beta tested it and made the first patches, i can see thru the ugliness....

wow.. kriminal. your an absolute genious... and your music sounds like a cheesy soundtrack for a nintendo game in which the player has to find the most unoriginal ..weak techno tracks that ever got stuck in the 90s...

Given the original GUI people should have thought it sounds utterly bad then....

Assuming Majken doesn't mind 8), here is Majkens mod with the red on buttons. :)

Then are we right in stating that it sounds good WITH effects?..that is..treating the effects as if it were part of the synth, which it is. I don't understand why people bring up a preset which sounds good by itself. Then turn off the effects and say it sounds "not good". Then say the whole synth is not good. I know, dave that you are saying its not ( crap) but not special ( and thanks for your opinion), however, I do see some unusual parameters in here that might bring it into the special catagory, such as the arp, enevlopes with more then the usual 4 sliders, the excellent effects and distortion and also the waveform and random generators as well as the microtonal abilities

Edit: a further comment on effects: what would have happened if Roland did not decide to put on Chorus units on all thier synths? I recall it was that great chorus sound that made the synth!

It is special. :P There's methods you can employ to make sounds using this thing that most others simply don't have. I know you already know all this, i'm just adding my slant to it. :P

thank you mr 23 posts, now read my lips...'no more bush'
So who's pocket are you in today? I know you get paid off for for working to destroy anything cool and/or free. It was a really nice thread until you showed up.

I know you think KVR is your personal toilet but it's not. One of these days you'll go too far and that can't be soon enough for me. Krim = Mute "ON".

Guys like Kriminal sound like they're bitter because another developer is getting so much positive attention. I say ignore their acrid repugnance and let's get back to helping FuzzTheKingpilz better this thing where he can... before this thread is deleted.

And here's a sneakpeak of version2. It'll have alot of small changes to make better use of the space by compacting some things together and spread some things out. It'll also have some new buttons and so on :)

Fuzzpilz, i got one FR regarding the skin-support: would it be possible to use a relative (to the .dll) path in the "current" file?
i'm asking for this cause i got a dualboot system and the partition where i got oatmeal has different drive-letters on each system which leads to an error on startup (still oatmeal loads with the default skin).
