Yeah this is the problem I've been having with it really. The same issue I've encountered with other TriTone plugs... in fact I can't believe more people aren't complaining about this.

They do sound great but the interfaces are terrible in that they're extremely clunky - the knobs are very, very slow to react to your mouse movements, difficult to make smooth adjustments, etc, etc. Overall it results a frustrating experience that does not make using the plugin much fun IMO, despite its excellent sound.

I too find it hard to believe that a) users put up with this and b) TriTone feels it's ok for the plugin to behave like this! Can't they code the thing in C++ or whatever and dump this dreadful Pluggo mess?

That is one of the big problems I had with Hydratone. It seemed really slow and cumbersome. I have less of a problem with Colortone Pro because you don't have to move as many knobs. I don't want to assume that just because the GUI is clunky and jerky, that the resultant sound is not good.

.. slavator and damon are musical guys, and not coder-coders. thus they stick to the pluggo thingie instead of learning new codes or whatever is required to write c++ etc.
sure, i'd also love to see pure AU versions of their wonderful plugins, but we wont see that.

and about the interfaces: i for one like them, and i for one find it easy to handle them.

Maybe this interface issue is another reason why people might consider getting ColorTone over Hydratone...

Interesting...Putte: you experience no weirdness with these plug-ins at all?? You're on a Mac, though, right? I think they behave better on Macs.

Like I said, I really support these guys cos the plugs sound great, and the interfaces are fine in every way (I like the cartoon-ish look), it's just that they work as if your computer is at 97% CPU, all the time, pretty unique to any non-beta plug-ins.

BUT, if that is what it takes to use the sound, then watcha gon'do? I would probably use these mostly offline. The last Cubase project that I saved with Colortone Pro on the main bus insert took about 60 seconds to open. I hope they address it some day, but for now, obviously it's just a concern for a few.

Anyone else have this?
I believe I did.

I think what is happening is if you click on the logo immediately after loading the plugin, it seems to put you into demo mode (with the beep). That happened to me a few times. Oddly, if I close the plugin, then reopen it (be sure not to click the logo), it launches in registered mode. But you are right - there is no reason on the world why it should do that. :(

I added ca. 30 additional impulses. They loaded just fine, but when I went to scan and load them, I was forced to use the down arrow in the GUI to scroll down a very long, single list. It took quite a long time, and when you are searching for something at the bottom, it is frankly a maddeningly slow and tedious process. Having to do this for each instance of the plugin was very frustrating.
MickGael,

Here is shortcut I came up with for you (well, us):

1- Create Index points by saving your impulse sets using the Store Presets option of Cubase/Nuendo. There should be a similar option in other hosts. For example, in your case, if the desired impulse is "Great River", select it (preferably the 1st of the set) from the drop-down windown of ColorTone Pro. Once selected, store this set as a "Great River" preset using the Store Presets function.

Note: Again, if on Cubase/Nuendo, save by clicking on the diskette icon. The 'store presets' option is offered in this drop-down window. Sorry to repeat it so often.....just want you to get it right.

2- Make similar presets for all your 'impulse sets'. This trick will send you directly to that respective set. For example, a "Great River" preset takes you to that set of impulses, "API" to the API set, "Studer" to its set, and so forth.

3- For navigation within the sets, just use the up/down 'Models' arrows on ColorTone Pro. That's it!

Hope this helps! :)
Just read this now, mammath. Very cool of you to suggest this - I'll give it a try. :)

Weird... this morning, all seems fine again. They sent me a fix, so I'm set regardless, but... weird.

By the way, to GUI slowness was fixed with the latest update. They behave just like any good plugin now. Only the initial load of pluggo runtime takes a bit time, but that only happens once in any host session.

I don't think there's anything at all to complain about tritone plugin quality anymore.

Well I just picked up Colortone Pro and I have to say I haven't had this much fun since playing with CurveEQ gearmatch!

Colortone Pro is pretty different from the free version but I kinda missed out on the party earlier this year - now I'm hearing the sounds and I really like it. Is anyone still here?

Once you do a detailed EQ (if necessary) then follow up with Colortone Pro and push into some Great River or Manley Equipment IRs - the color knob lets you do something similiar to shelving and we even have a "Mix" knob that is on the tip of everyones tongue these days...

Very nice color! Did we run out of champagne yet

Ut-Oh this isn't good where'd youse guys go... :D
Hello
.....hello
...........hello
Was this all smoke & mirrors for you? :?:

Besides having to hold the gui together with duck-tape sometimes - it seems like a pretty cool convolution EQ contour device thingy to me...
