Hey Fuzzpilz, love you synth, and making skins for it.
BTW in the large oms you messed up the references to the early bright and dull knobs,
in the reverb section !
and the retrigger lfo on button is 1 pix too low ( or the skin 1 too high).
Luckily this is pure cosmetics, doesn't do anything with the great sounds it makes.
Keep up the good work,
Greets Peter.

Here's part of my first test of oatmeal, wrapped in a first post, accompanied by a request: http://mightypea.3dpalette.ca/browse/oa ... melody.mp3
The request being: as i'm rather new to this whole thing, and clumsy to boot, i would like to recreate the guitary patch. Why? i err, managed to press random on the wrong instance of oatmeal, and saved the file.
Everything except the drum that comes along in the middle is oatmeal, and they're all random patches that i tweaked a bit. Now, i have a vague understanding of most of the buttons, but i wouldn't know where to start to recreate this sound, does anyone have any pointers, or did anyone come upon a similar sound, and is he/she willing to share?
Also um...
onepingonly!
I thought saying that would make me more popular with you guys.

Here is an eXT patch I made with four oatmeals and one rez 2.0. I really like the arp in oatmeal.
See original post for the eXT file.
MP3 file - above patch played live on my PC keyboard

Sorry to ask this, since I'm sure it's been asked before, but there are 52 pages of this thread, and no way to search it. How do I make Midi Learn work? The manual says to right click on the CC selector, but I don't know what this means. Right clicking on a knob just resets the default value, as stated in the manual. How do I Midi Learn the knobs?
Thanks!
Thanks!

bottom left (just above var radius) on the gui you'll see --- CC --- click and hold --- and move up to select a channel, when you have done that, right click on it and move (knob, slider or) whatever it is you want to control that parameter.
Edit: didn't read your post properly, sorry. That's the thing about apps such as flstudio, you just move a knob, then select "link to controller" move your controller knob and you're done (in orion your right click the knob, select "link to next midi controller", turn ther controller knob/move slider and you're done there too)....i have no idea how midi learn works at all, none whatsoever.

Reqs, it seems that this procedure is meant for the XY pad.

Yes. Binding MIDI controllers to parameters directly really, really is something the host should do, in my view (if at all - I'm very uncomfortable with the idea of parameters changing that way for some reason); I did provide it for the XY pad, though, since it actually makes sense for that, the X and Y parameters really just being modulation values. I did think of providing some additional modulation panes that would operate similarly, but decided against it after some half-baked thought process that I don't remember.

The XY pad is just fine. Maybe there could be a second one, so one could control further parameters independently, but then, I usually only use the ModWheel anyways.

hi fuzzpilz,
after playing around with oatmeal i also have to say, nice synth! thanks for makin it free ...
however, if you are opened for suggestions/feature requests i'd like to mention some things ...
here we go:
1. as the synth is skinnable, is it possible to implement some sort of "size-switch", for having the possibility to use _any_ skin in different sizes?
2. how about a real modulation matrix, which includes every parameter as destination and every lfo/env/ext.controller as source?
3. a delay/fade in for the lfo's?
4. fm/sync/rm?
5. a ping pong delay, where the signal of the delay is _not_ repeated in the
middle but _only_ left/right alterated?
6. i'm not a tarncer, but how about kind of a "supersaw" ?
sorry for bothering, just asking ...
great synth anyway!

Yeah, I figured the "I'm lovin' it!" statement was sarcasm just for the fact that it's a McDonald slogan... be careful, Krim, they might try to sue you for trademark infringement!Kriminal wrote:sarcasmGlassback wrote:Kriminal wrote:I havent changed my opinion at all on thew synth.Yagushi wrote:Krim, when did you change your opinion of Oatmeal? Not really - this is all GDI, so resizing would be both slow and ugly.brok landers wrote:1. as the synth is skinnable, is it possible to implement some sort of "size-switch", for having the possibility to use _any_ skin in different sizes?
Would need serious architecture changes, I'm afraid - not happening. Next time, maybe.2. how about a real modulation matrix, which includes every parameter as destination and every lfo/env/ext.controller as source?
Can be sort of done with the mod envelopes - set them to modulate LFO depths with a slow attack.3. a delay/fade in for the lfo's?
Wouldn't want to do that without oversampling, and the way the code is I can't easily do that now. I'll consider it, though.4. fm/sync/rm?
Set the delay's input pan all the way in one direction and the rotation to 0.5 pi or -0.5 pi.5. a ping pong delay, where the signal of the delay is _not_ repeated in the
middle but _only_ left/right alterated?
It'd be saner to just add generic oscillator unison - not sure if I should do that now, with the code as it is.6. i'm not a tarncer, but how about kind of a "supersaw" ?
Truth be told, it's not all just a codey thing - I'm reluctant to add anything significantly new now, since it'll mean extra work for the other people who were nice enough to do skins for this.

that would be even better, as it is for all osc-types then, but make it to stay polyphone ...Fuzzpilz wrote:brok landers wrote: 5. a ping pong delay, where the signal of the delay is _not_ repeated in the

in general i like oatmeal a lot, so don't take my requests too serious, i only thought this could kinda komplete the synth somehow ...
no offense, thanks again!
btw, thanks to all the skinners, as there are very nice ones!
edit: sorry for the messy quoting ...

Not to pick on you, but... I'd like to know what definition of "middle" you're using. I always get left-right-left-right etc. that way...brok landers wrote:the third repetition is in the middle then ... exactly that is why i'm asking for that ...
