OT: OSXA?

BBL doesn't make much sense as a X-platform forum, does it? We already have KvR and others. I think BBS USP was the Mac-relatedness. I am not a Mac addict, but I think a dedicated forum helps to filter a lot of unnecessary BS. I hope the new BBS won't go X-platform for just that reason...

.. this move to open platform: was it ever announced? in the old forums?
if not it would have been a good idea, especially for all the site-supporters.

It's on the site: "OSXAudio is expanding and finally embracing platform independence. ... But never fear, we are not abandoning the lovely Mac OS X, merely broadening our scope." Whatever that means...

.. tq, i meant if it was announced to the site-supporters BEFORE the page arrived. i mean, after all they're somehow helping to finance the move.
tdc could have asked the people what they think of it, thats at least what i'd expect.
Another question would be why there's the motivation to open it up to other platforms?
ah, you see .. i'm a bit annoyed by all this. osxa was an internet-home to quite some of us, and from one day to the other it just vanishes .. out of nothing. sure, there's the possibility that we get what we had, in a new design etc.
though, osxa was a thingie for osx-users, and that made that place a rather tiny (compared to open-platform forums) and nice hangout for us.

I completely agree with this. And probably I am losing my post count at BBS if it does not show up again - that's was worth years of useless postings and utter nonsense - which was great fun. Look at my KvR post count - that's a shame, isn't it?putte wrote: ah, you see .. i'm a bit annoyed by all this. osxa was an internet-home to quite some of us, and from one day to the other it just vanishes .. out of nothing. sure, there's the possibility that we get what we had, in a new design etc.

This condescending bullshit is why I mostly dropped off of OSXA. Between Ned and Marc, the vibe went straight into the shitter. I know "if you don't like it, then leave". Yeah, I get it. It's just sad that a couple of egomaniacs that donated their time could f**k it up that bad. Jason and Kevin never talk to people like they do.Ned Bouhalassa wrote:HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I gave 25 bucks twice over 4 or 5 years. That's 10-12 bucks a year !!!!!! Things better run perfectly for that kind of cash, right? That's a six-pack of beer right there! The site has gone down 3 or 4 times over that time.KernelG wrote:Yes, you would.putte wrote:i think if i'd be a site-supporter who donated some money i'd be slightly upset by now.![]()

Anyhow, I find the downtime worth it, if only to goat Fucken-a to waste his time and post some dribble.
Ned is the kind of guy I'd beat the shit out of in real life, so it doesn't surprise me that I want to beat the shit out of him now. I just hope that somebody fires these kinds of people from their volunteer jobs.

.. moderating is a tough thingie, and i never mean to be personal whenever i critisice moderators.
its a matter of "taste" up to a certain degree, me thinks.
and when i say that i found the osxa-moderation to be a bit "snobby" i only say this 'cause i for one would handle it differently, which doesnt make it or me right ..
.. its just a different view and matter of taste when it comes to communication.

i totally agree putte! osxa was my most fav and comfortable hangout. the information to noise ratio was great and it was about the only place where threads weren't interrupted by someone bashing the Mac platform for no good reason. it will definitely be interesting to see how it all shapes up after the transition, but i really miss that place.putte wrote:ah, you see .. i'm a bit annoyed by all this. osxa was an internet-home to quite some of us, and from one day to the other it just vanishes .. out of nothing. sure, there's the possibility that we get what we had, in a new design etc.

I don't think so. If it was, there would have been some kind of reaction that would have come to our attention. Anyway, let's wait and see. I am becoming a patient guy, between this and Amplitube 2 and waiting for our second child to arrive...

it went down for weeks the DAY AFTER I donated my $25. I was never as happy with it after that. I loved up until I donated. the lesson we learn from that? I don't know, but for that money I wish I'd have gotten a lesson
I guess these things don't last forever. I thought it was weird when they stopped updating the news, but OK, whatever, there's still the forums, I'll just go elsewhere for the news. then the "love it or leave it" bad attitude period, and now "cross platform", because?... I don't remember reading a lot of threads that said "I wish there was more Windows talk here" or "why isn't there a forum here to talk about why Apple sucks for ditching Logic on Windows?".
I'm sure it will be fine and everyone will be OK.
